Chapter 30

FLASHBACK-- NEW ORLEANS, 19TH CENTURY
Bella: [voiceover] For centuries, people have come to New Orleans looking for a fresh start. Looking to find adventure, fortune, and even love. Young society women imported from France with the promise of marrying a proper New Orleans gentleman like the legendary Casket Girls. [Three French women are traveling by horse and carriage, accompanied by a driver and a male chaperon.]
French woman: Excuse me, sir, how long before we arrive at the Governor's house?
Bella: [continues in voiceover] Little did they know that the men who awaited them were far from proper, and not at all gentle. [The carriage carrying the three women stops as they approach a group of men with torches and alcohol in the middle of the road who are blocking their path. The men are shouting as they swarm around them and shake the carriage. The women scream until the shaking stops, when the sound is suddenly replaced by the shouts of the men outside. They look around, frightened and confused. The man inside the carriage slowly opens the door and looks around at the devastated of deceased and bloody men scattered on the ground. Afraid, he tries to retreat back into the carriage, but is quickly pulled back out by an invisible force. After a moment, the carriage door opens, and Bella appears, dabbing a dribble of blood from her lips.]
Bella: There, there little lambs, all the bad men have gone away. [She begins speaking French] You're safe here, please forgive the disorder. [She returns to speaking English] Us girls have got to stick together. Now, is there anything you want to take with you?
"That's my mother!" Cheered Layla.
[Bella helps the women out of the carriage and retrieve their trunks from the back. Afterward, they all abandon the carriage and the carnage and flee the scene with their belongings.]
PRESENT DAY-- FRENCH QUARTER
[New Orleans is abuzz with mills of people in town for the annual Casket Girls Festival. A horse and carriage is seen driving down the street while people dressed up in old fashioned costumes and wedding dresses drink on the sidewalks. Bella walks down the street with a smile on her face as she takes in the party atmosphere.]
Bella: [voiceover] The Casket Girls legend lives on, now celebrated in typical New Orleans fashion with stylish costumes and supernatural flair. It's a yearly reminder of how woman can be oppressed by selfish men and how they can triumph when brave enough to fight for themselves.
MIKAELSON COMPOUND
[Hayley is standing in front of a mirror, trying to fasten the zipper on the vintage wedding dress she's found. Elijah appears at the door behind her.]
Elijah: Would you like some help?
Hayley: [smiles] You might need to use all your vampire strength.
Elijah: Allow me. [Elijah stands behind her and begins to fasten her zipper and buttons.]
"I feel like i'm watching scene from some romantic movie." Said Bella. Layla nodded.
Hayley: Thanks. Not too many pregnant Casket Girls, I guess.
Elijah: I think you look lovely. Only I would... [He touches the birthmark on her shoulder, and she covers it with her hand.]
Hayley: I know, keep the freaky werewolf birthmark covered.
Elijah: Well, I don't suspect any of the riff-raff here would dare lay a hand on you, knowing you're under the protection of my family. Still, you shouldn't take any chances. [Hayley looks at herself in the mirror and sighs.]
Hayley: All knocked up and nowhere to go.
Elijah: You know... if you wanted the attend the festivities tonight, I would be more than willing to take you.
Hayley: Hmm... you and Klaus are barely on speaking terms. Let's not rock the boat, okay?
Bella smiled at Hayley.
Elijah: [mildly disappointed] Of course.
[He turns to leave, but she stops him before he reaches the door.]
Hayley: Elijah, do you mind? [Hayley gestures at her zipper, so Elijah walks over to her and undoes the buttons and zipper for her before he takes off.]
MIKAELSON COMPOUND
[Klaus and Marcel are in the living room discussing their current predicament.]
Klaus: You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to know the obvious. Our secret weapon has escaped.
Evegone glared at her.
"She is not a weapon." Said Kol with vamp face. Davina smiled.
Marcel: She wouldn't just leave. She knows the witches want her back. [Elijah appears from around the corner, and Marcel turns towards him.]
Elijah: Her violin is missing. She may have left of her own volition.
Marcel: What did you say to her in the attic? She lied to my face so she could stay up there, thinking that you'd help her control her magic. How do we know you didn't take her?
Elijah: I have no idea where Davina is, or why she ran away. Can I suggest you take a step back? [Marcel eyes him for a moment before turning away, Bella walks in.]
Elijah: I can assure you I have absolutely no desire to see that child come into harm's way. She's suffered enough with this Harvest ritual nonsense.
Bella: Elijah is right. She is a child, not a weapon. She is just sixteen for godsake.
Davina smiled at her.
Klaus: That child, to whom you refer to so affectionately, is the most powerful witch in New Orleans. If she's fled, what's to stop her from destroying us? In fact, destroying all we've worked for? No, if she's not a friend to this family, then she is our enemy.
Bella: And what are you gonna do if she doesn't come back?
Klaus: Kill her.
Everyone glared at Klaus.
[Bella looks at Klaus with unreadable expression and her mind goes to flashback.]
FLASHBACK– 11TH CENTURY MYSTIC FALLS
[Bella is six year old and sitting near river, looking sad. Seven years old Klaus comes behind her.]
Klaus: Bella! Found you!
Bella: Why were you looking for me?
Klaus: I wanted to ask why you are avoiding me and everyone?
Bella: I was not.
Klaus: You know you can't lie to me.
Bella: You are so annoing!
Klaus: But you love me.
Bella: Doesn't make you less annoying.
Klaus: Stop changing the subject! Why are you acting weird?
Bella: Well... I'm weird.
"Isn't it true?" Said Kol.
"Says you." Said Bella.
Klaus: More than usual. [Bella stands up and starts to walk away.]
Bella: Leave me alone, Nik! [Klaus grabs her hand and stops her from going. Bella looks horrified and tried to get away.]
"Why do you looks so horrified?" Said Davina. Bella pointed at screen.
Klaus: No. Not until you tell me why are you acting like this.
Bella: I'm... I'm dangerous. Please.. [Klaus doesn't let go. Bella tears up.]
Bella: [crying] Mo-mother said that i- i- my ability is stealing magic, that's why my hand glows red sometimes. She- she said if i take too much magic, i will kill you. She said i shouldn't do that again. Please. Please. Let me go. If i touch you, you will die. I don't want to hurt you. Please.
Elijah, Layla, Davina and Kol looked angry. Hayley and Marcel looked at her sadly.
"When did that happen?" Said Elijah.
"Long time ago." Said Bella.
[Klaus let go off her hand and Bella looked relieved, than Klaus hugged her. Bella looked surprised and horrified and got Klaus off.]
Everyone looked at Klaus surprised.
Bella: What are you doing?
Klaus: I knew you would never hurt me.
Bella smiled at memory.
Bella: Can't you hear me? I am a monster!
Klaus: You aren't monster. You are my sister. [Bella looked at him with teary, vulnerable eyes.]
People looked at her with pity. She ignored them.
Klaus: You always help me, Monster wouldn't do that. How many times have you touched us and we are all still alive. Mother is probably being dramatic. You just need to learn how to control it. I will help you. [Bella started sniffling and crying. Klaus hugs her to comfort her agian.]
Klaus: Hush now. It will be okay.
Bella: I'm scared. I'm scared of losing control. I'm scared of myself.
"No child should have to say that." Said Hayley looking at Bella sympathetically.
Klaus: Don't be afraid. I won't let you lose control. [Klaus takes out a small chess piece.]
Klaus: I carved it for Father. It's a brave knight. Now you can be brave, too.
Everyone smiles at them.
Bella: Will you stay with me for a while?
Klaus: I will always stay with you, Bella. No matter what. [Bella smiled through tears.]
Bella: Promise?
Klaus: Promise. [Bella's smile widens.]
Bella: I'll always stay with you, too, Nik. [Klaus smiled.]
"I love their relationship." Said Layla.
PRESENT–MIKAELSON COMPOUND
[Bella is looking at Klaus like she is seeing him for first time.]
Bella: Who are you?
Klaus: Bella, love, did you hit your head to something? Your brother. Klaus Mikaelson. Rings a bell? [Bella looked at him in the eye.]
Bella: No, you aren't. I knew Nik. He was more like a twin to me than older brother, because he was my another half. We were so inseparable, When i would go somewhere, people would ask me where was the other one. He would sneak me food when father locked me in the dark room, he helped me learn magic, he helped me realise that it was okay for girl to like both girls and boys, he was my best friend and secret keeper and he would never hurt an innocent child. Never. Whoever you are, you are not Nik. [Bella run out of room crying. Klaus and Elijah's eyes were glassy, Marcel looked awkward.]
Everyone looked at Bella with pity. Bella glared at them, they looked away. Klaus was looking down.
Bella's room
[Bella is drinking and singing her new song "Faded" (In reality Alan Walker's (ft. Iselin Solheim))]

People look at her with pity, Klaus looks guilty.
