[ A Moment To Know How You Are ]
The wind hastily blew on Jeonghan's hair as it went through the windows that they had long ago rolled down along the way.
His hands steady on the steering wheel, he turned to look at Raki who was composedly gazing outside, her arms over the window and leaning against them, never growing tired of the seascape.
"Why do you hate your home?", Jeonghan asked following the silent that had been surrounding them for quite a while then.
Raki's eyes didn't bother to swerve, yet she tilted her head as to ponder of his question, and it did not take her long to get the answer that has always been there. "It makes me remember how good of a life I've had before."
Then it was the whistle of the wind and the distant crashing sounds of the waves again. However, in the presence of his silence, he regarded her answer more than anyone could ever do.
If Raki knew how much ease she had taken away from him, she would not just be staring out the window unconcerned.
Yet, in the midst of her repose, the thoughts of him feeling the same way towards his own home like she did as he told the last time filled her mind in a way that the silence could not appease, thus, in a low tone, she asked him, "What about you?", Then she closed her eyes, even when he began to speak.
"I remember how bad of a life I have."
For once, she wished he was lying, she wished that it was just his way of trying to get away with how he had been dealing with his matters, with how he dealt her, yet the authenticity in his voice, the regret, nothing save for the apathy.
"Do you think it's the people?", She asked.
It took Jeonghan a matter of seconds to agree with a hum, however, he didn't sound as though he had hesitated, as if the answer was already there, yet it was its weight that took him a moment to shoulder it.
Perhaps, it was a lot easier to be passive of what his family had turned into, than to acknowledge the certainty that he was blaming them for all the abhorrence that he felt.
If his life would get any better for all the times that he had escaped, to far off places and mind occupying situations, he would have been the happiest person alive.
For the record, the same had gone for Raki. That even if she didn't exactly know where he was taking her, she found it reassuring that they were a long way far from their lives.
And the rest house that was situated in a seaside hill was fitting for it. It felt surreal for her to be there when it seemed to be a place one could not easily reach.
It was unreal, and of course Raki would feel as if everything was not real when it was just that afternoon that Jeonghan had out of a sudden ask her to come with him.
And perhaps, it was about time to wonder why it was so easy for her to agree to go with him, no matter the uncertainty of where he would take her.
"Feel free to look around.", Jeonghan offered as they stood in the middle of the illuminated living room.
Light seemed new in there considering how long it has been since the last time someone from his family had came by and gave the rest house life.
The room smelled like dust yet of the gentle and comforting kind, like old wistful memories, as if it had been home at some point.
Raki trailed her fingers over a white cloth covered furniture that seemed to be the backrest of a couch which had let dust gather on her fingertips.
