TW: I don't usually do this but just as a warning there is some violence that one might consider graphic in this chapter, please proceed with caution if that sort of thing can upset/trigger you.

As Leo and I began running over to Jason more Earthborn rose from the piles of clay. I stopped and turned to see Piper also running up behind us.

"We need to get to Jason!" She said, looking over to Jason who was now fighting Enceladus with only his lance.

"I do realise that." I muttered, gripping my daggers tightly. There was more Earthborn rising from the ground by the minute. I sighed. "You two get to Jason, I can hold these guys off."

"We aren't leaving you to fight them alone." Leo said, taking a step forward.

"I won't be alone, now go. I don't know how much longer Jason can fight Enceladus on his own."

Piper nodded and grabbed Leo's arm dragging him behind her. An Earthborn tried to grab them but I threw one of my knives and it melted into another pile of mud. Piper kept running and Leo followed her.

I turned back to the rest of the Earthborn. There was around twenty of them, with more appearing from the treeline. I drew another one of my knives and closed my eyes. I need help.

It was silent for a moment but then I heard a faint voice. Look up.

I opened my eyes and looked up just in time to see a flash of white and brown dive down and crush an Earthborn. I smiled as the large owl turned to me.

He tilted his head to me and flexed his claws. I gripped my knives tighter and charged an Earthborn just as the great owl spread his wings once again.

I slashed my knives through an Earthborn and ducked under a boulder thrown my way. One tried to grab me but I spun out of the way and stabbed my knife into the back of its head.

I felt a tug on my hair and whirled around to stab the Earthborn. I wiped the mud out of my hair, looking at it in disgust. "Really? The hair? It just started to look ok again." I muttered and slashed through another Earthborn.

You always notice the most insignificant things.

I snorted and threw a knife at one of the Earthborn chasing the owl. "It's better to focus on those than the big picture, helps me stay positive."

I drew another knife and ran at an Earthborn, jumping up to cut through the ogres head. I felt something grab my shoulder and I turned to stab the Earthborn but it twisted me back around by the shoulder and landed a punch to my gut.

I gagged, feeling bile rise in my throat. I swallowed thickly and stabbed my knife into the Earthborn's stomach. Another came up behind me and wrapped its arms around me. It picked me up and slammed me back onto the ground.

I felt the wind rush from my lungs and I felt pain explode in my ribs. I cried out and I saw a flash of feathers fly over me, the Earthborn melted back into the ground and the owl hovered over me.

Are you ok?

I winced and nodded pushing myself up and breathing heavily.

The owl's eyes widened as he looked at something behind me. Before I could turn, I felt something hit me from behind. I was launched past the owl and hit the ground rolling. I landed near a pile of rocks and rolled to a stop.

I felt my vision dimming and I looked down to see a shard of metal, which looked like it had been taken from one of the broken-down construction equipment, protruding from my stomach.
