"Are you ignoring me?"
Samidha whispered and Sahaj raised an eyebrow at her.

They were sitting together in the class and the teacher was teaching. Sahaj had made it his mission to ignore her after he very rudely asked Priya to mind her own buisness. So he has been ignoring her from the past 10 days and now Samidha's patience is over. She can't possibly sit without talking to the person beside her.

"Shut up and let me concentrate."
He snapped and Samidha leaned back in her seat, not liking being ignored. Looking at him she realised, he was not looking at the teacher, instead he was looking at Priya who was sitting just in front of him.

It was her birthday that day and she had made a special effort to look extra good today. She was wearing a pink floral frock with balloon sleeves that reached two inches below her knees. She had kept her silky hair open and wore a little makeup with some light blush, mascara, a baby pink lipstick and kajal and beautiful gold earrings.

She looked beautiful.

Samidha noticed how Sahaj's eyes did not leave her for more than a minute. Even if he was just staring at her back, he had his eyes glued to her.

Samidha was once again reminded how girls like her stood no chance. Males liked nothing but beauty. Inner beauty was non-existent to them. And even if it did matter, they won't even try to see it until the outer beauty appeals to them. It wasn't like Priya wasn't a good person, but she was just as good looking as well and Samidha, she was just a masculine, simple girl with average looking face, extraordinarily beautiful eyes and body that gains weight just in a week of eating sweets.

Girls like her stood no chance in front of girls like Priya who were well spoken, beautiful, thin and who maintained their beauty. Leave Samidha, she was masculine, even average looking feminine girls stood no chance.

It wasn't like Samidha disliked pretty feminine girls, no, in fact she appreciated them more than herself.
It was just that she felt bad that no one would ever even consider talking to Samidha in front of anyone like Priya.

Samidha would not be the first choice. No one would come just to talk to her

"Uh........I have a question."

"Hmm."

No one would notice her first in a group of pretty girls. No one will pay her attention.

"Samidha?"

Sometimes, even when she wanted to become like them, her mind stopped her. It wasn't her. Wearing frocks, suits, doing makeup, it wasn't Samidha.

"Samidha?"

And the small nagging feeling, that even if she dresses up and gets dolled up, even then she would not be of any competition to the pretty girls, stopped her from wearing the pretty dresses which she liked very much. You can change your clothes, not your face.

"Samidha!"
Sahaj yelled and poked her hard. Samidha yelped, standing up quickly.

"What the-. What happened?"

"The class is over."
He said in a light tone, his expressions neither angry nor happy.

"You pinched me this hard just to tell me the class is over?"

"Of course. You've been thinking about me ignoring you for the last 15 minutes."
He said with a slight teasing tone and started packing his bag.

How did he know?

"Stop being so self centred. You may be the Sun of your solar system, but you are nothing but a blank space in mine. I won't think about you even in the back of my mind."
She gritted sitting back and banging her notebook shut.
