-Yánléi Basis-

It was funny, really, how Master Zed always preferred to send out the lower ranking Yánléi members to deal with something before finally asking Kayn to handle the situation. And well, this situation wasn't much different: Word spread of a sort of demon feeling a bit too comfortable in a nearby cave, preying on unsuspecting people, men, and women alike. They'd be missing for days, sometimes even weeks before their corpses would be found miles away from the cave. This demon now was also responsible for the disappearance and in turn death of five members of the Shadow Order. Master Zed had given Kayn a brief overview of the situation even though he already had gathered the information he needed from the lower ranking members and the rumours spreading between the villagers. Kayn felt the annoyance bubble up inside of him once more, if the Master had just given him the order to take the demon out as soon as word had reached the Yánléi then it would've already been dealt with. He didn't care for the other members - they could go to hell for all he cared - but the lack of efficiency pissed him off to no end. And almost as much did it piss him off to have to walk all the way to this god forsaken cave. His grip around the handle of his (suspiciously quiet) scythe tightened as he sped up. "Better be done with this quickly."

His way led him through freshly flooded fields and into a small forest with large trees before the scenery gradually changed from flat land to small hills and then the mountain range containing the infamous cave. The cold air that emitted from the cave gave Kayn the chills. He rubbed his arms hastily before taking a deep breath. "It's just a cold, dark cave with some random monster in it... nothing to be afraid of.", he spoke to himself, but this prep-talk didn't do much to calm his nerves, despite the rising feeling of doom, Kayn forced himself to enter. His weapon always ready as he tried to see something in the pitch black of the cave but to no avail. Kayn felt himself trip repeatedly on undiscernible, soft items on the floor and he was glad that he didn't have to see what he was walking on as the flooring changed from the hard stone to being completely covered by something soft. "This feels so disgusting...", he whispered, trying to keep his steps even and tangle-free from what ever laid beneath. Suddenly, the hand he had let ever so often brush against the stone wall was suddenly grasping at nothing and he had to choke a gasp. The stone corridor must've opened into a large place. It took Kayn a bit too long to recognize that the red dots he suddenly saw were not a fabric of his imagination as something suddenly snarled into his ear. He whipped around, slicing the air in a circle with his scythe - more out of muscle memory than coherent thought - and was glad to see, that the dots were, again, a bit further away from him.

Kayn readjusted his grip, feeling the living weapon slowly spurring to live in his hands as he tried to keep the two red dots in his field of vision. "Show yourself, monster! Bring it on!", he taunted. And sure enough, more of those red dots slowly emerged, firstly one, then another, and another, until there were nine dots circling around the original two and slowly, the new dots grew in size until the resembled dark red flames dancing in the air, somewhat illuminating the all-encompassing darkness. Kayn was able to make out something pale in between dark streaks, was it skin? He had barely enough time to dodge one of those flames being hurled his way, he felt the cold radiating from it as it passed him. This was no ordinary demon.

-Spirit Realm-

The usually calm spirits jumped and jittered across the floor, nipping, and pulling at the flowing dark hair of a man resting against a spirit tree. "Alright, I am awake, what is it?", he spoke, his voice deep and calm. The spirits just kept on with their excited movements, urging him to follow them. He got up from his position on the ground and readjusted the two swords on his hip, regarding the small spirits with another thoughtful look before following them through the spirit world. It was a serene place, the floor looked like an endless, calm river over which a small trail of stepping stones emerged wherever one walked. Plants and energy were growing freely in the endless white plane, their pastel hues slowly fading like water colours on bleached paper. Sometimes the surreal spirit realm seemed transparent, allowing a look into the material world of the living, this mainly appeared around the red gates that allowed for a free passage between the worlds and to one of these the little creatures beckoned the man to go. He tried to take a look through the gate, but he was greeted with a darkness that could've only stemmed from a stone room. He looked at the little critters around him, that tried to pull at the hem of his skirt, their little whimpers turning into coherent speech "Yone, please! Something isn't right!", they squealed, and the man known as Yone had to agree. He felt surges of energy entering the spirit realm through the gate and if he strained his ears, he could hear scratching and laboured breathing emitting from the dark.
