3

I wake up to the yellow duck walls around my room.

My mother squished my face

Telling me she loves me

Then leaving.

I cry

Father runs in.

He tells me it's okay, then leaves.

I cry

Sister walks in and tells me it's okay

Gives me a toy

Then leaves.

I fiddle with the toy.

Then sleep

8

I wake up to the purple walls around my room.

Mother shakes me awake, then runs out of the room

I cry.

Father walks in

Tells me it's alright

He tells me to get ready for school

I cry.

Sister notices

She doesn't say anything.

I get ready for school

Tears wetting my clothes.

13

I wake up to the black walls around my room.

A long, loud, alarm rang in my ear.

I cry

Father comes in

Yells at me

Then leaves

I hear Father crying too.

I cry.

Sister comes in.

She screams at me.

She says "It's your fault!"

She throws a book at me

Sister cries too.

17

I wake up to the bare black walls around my room.

I cry.

No one comes in

No one tells me it's okay.

I can't stop crying

Around my room were boxes full of my things

A knife atop one of them

The knife makes me stop crying.
