Chapter #43
Lisa’s POV
Louri is busy in her workshop and Scarlett is making lunch when she notices me with my bags yes they had me move back in with them. “Uh where do you think you are going?” Scarlett asks hands on hips. “Back to Boston I told Louri I would.” I say. “Uh huh you are staying. The original plan before the argument was you were staying till a month after the baby is born and that’s what you are going to do so cancel whatever you need to and put your bags back plus all your kids live here in LA so you are staying missy.” She says, making me chuckle at the name. “But I don’t want to inconvenience you.” I tell her. “You aren’t, you help around the house all the time. I woke up this morning to the laundry washed and folded and I know it wasn’t Louri because she doesn’t fold clothes like that.” She says damn it I thought I was being sneaky. “Don’t make me tackle you. I do it to Louri when she tries to sneak an energy drink in the morning. I will tackle you.” She laughs. I've seen her do it too. “Ok I will put my things back.” I give in with a chuckle. “Good because I don’t think you want an almost five month pregnant woman to chase and tackle you.” She laughs. “Oh definitely not.” I tell her. “Why are you tackling my mother?” Louri asks from the back door in her toolbelt Devon next to her in his matching tool belt. “Oh I caught her trying to go to the airport.” Scarlett says. “Um Honey isn’t this holding her against her will? You know something that’s illegal.” Louri says. “Oh I didn’t think of that.” Scarlett says, making us laugh. “I’m just glad you guys still want me to stay till a month after the baby is born like in the original plan.” I say. “Of course now lunch is almost ready, come to the dining room.” Scarlett says. We all go to the dining room where the twins are coloring at the table. “Hi.” They say at the same time. “I know it’s creepy.” Louri says. “That’s your children.” I say. “And it’s creepy. Scarlett and Hunter do it too.” Louri says. “Oh Hunt and I do it to creep you out.” Scarlett says sitting on Louri’s lap after placing lunch on the table. I don't know why Scarlett has her own chair when she mostly sits on Louri’s lap. It's adorable.

Scarlett’s POV
“IT’S THE FAVORITE AUNT!!” Liz’s voice comes from the foyer. “Louisa, you didn’t get scared?” Lisa asks. “It’s Awntie Lwizzie, she always do that I no get scared.” Louisa says crawling into Lisa’s lap. Louisa and Lisa have really bonded the past few days and we are so proud of her especially after what happened last week. Louri and I took her to her first therapy appointment this morning and she never left Louri’s lap and had a white knuckle grip on Louri’s tags but on the way home she did say that Teresa was nice. “Sit down and help yourself to some apps.” I tell her. “I will thank you. Why did you cook as if you are feeding a platoon of Marines?” She asks. “Because Louri’s unit is coming over for lunch in about fifthteen minutes and Marines eat a lot.” I laugh. “So do Evans.” Lisa adds. “We get it from you Ma.” Louri says. “Yes you do.” Lisa laughs and soon there is a knock on the door. “They do know how to knock like normal people right?” I joke as I get up to let them in. “I knock like that.” Louri says. “I know.” I say walking out of the dining room and welcoming Louri’s unit. They all salute Louri as they enter the dining room and she returns their salute and orders them to be at ease. “So Janet, how are you finding the 4077th?” Louri asks the newest member of the unit. “Everyone is so nice Ma’am.” She says. “Oh please call me Louri we are off duty no need for formalities.” Louri says. “I’ll try.” She chuckles. “I’ve been with Louri my whole career and it took me two years to get used to calling her Louri when we are off duty.” Greg tells the young woman. “Uncle Greggy, where's my hug?” Devon says since Greg is sitting next to him. “Oh how could I forget, come here Dev.” He says, and Devon gets out of his seat and into Gregs lap. Janet is sat next to Greg so Devon being the social butterfly he is immediately starts talking to her and I notice it makes her more relaxed. “So you are my Auntie?” He asks. “Um I uh Colonel?” Janet stutters. “He calls all of the members of the unit his aunts and uncles if you aren’t ready or comfortable with that it’s ok.” Louri says. “Then yes I am your Auntie Janet." She tells him. "Like the lady who writes the books Mama reads to me sometimes?" He asks excitedly. "I quess what does your Mama read?" She asks. "Janet Evanovich." Louri says. "Oh I love her romance novels." Janet says. "Louri you read Janet Evanovich to our six year old?" I ask. “Only the romance ones, not the others.” Louri says. “Ok good.” I say. “Oooo the Colonel is in trouble.” Walter says in a sing-song voice. “No she’s not.” I say. “Oh well that’s no fun.” Greg says. “Greg it’s a good thing I love you like a brother.” Louri says and they both laugh at her comment. “So how is your leg?” Max asks. “Healing nicely thank you.” She says and I fiddle with Louri’s tags which is where Louisa got it from. “I’m ok Love.” She whispers in my ear. “So I have a question?” Janet says. “What’s that?” I ask. “Did you two meet through the Colonel’s brother Chris Evans?” She asks. “Yes we did all the way back in 2007.” I say. “Wow.” Janet says. “Why do you have dog tags? If you don’t mind me asking.” Janet asks Devon as he is now in her lap and we all are just enjoying watching Devon bond with the new member of the unit. “I love to tell people but I need to get something. I will be right back and he runs to his room and comes back with the picture of Louri, Tom, Greg, and Devon Hendricks that Louri gave him when Tom died. He crawls back into her lap. “You see that man there?” He asks, pointing to Hendricks. “Yes I do.” She says. “He was Sergeant Devon Hendricks, my Uncle. I never got to meet him in person but Mama, and Uncle Greg tell me stories of him all the time so I feel like I know him. He died to save my Mama. These are his tags. I am named after him.” Devon says. “Who is this? I know that’s your Mama and Uncle Greg but who is this man?” She asks, pointing to Tom. “He is my Uncle Tommy. He died just a few years ago. I miss him a lot.” Devon says. “My little brother is going to be named after him.” Devon adds pointing to my stomach with a smile. “I will tell him all about Uncle Tommy just like Mama tells me about Uncle Devon.” Devon says smiling proudly and we all can’t help but smile with him. “Did you know your mama saved me?” She says what is she talking about Louri clearly knows because her body language changes. “My Mama is a super hero and she saves a lot of people. Are you one of the Marines she saved and got her special medal for?” He asks. “I am.” Janet says. “Is that why you joined the 4077th?” Devon asks. “No, when your Mama found out I had been transferred to LA she had me transfered to the 4077th.” She says and Louri nods. “You are a good Marine and I needed at least one other woman. I mean you and I are the only women in our unit.” Louri says. “True.” Janet says. “I approve of you.” Devon says with a nod. “Oh I’m glad because your Mama is always talking about her little Marine.” Janet says. “That’s me!” Devon cheers. “You nice.” Louisa says to Janet the only members of Louri’s unit she will talk to is Sherman and Greg and she just met Janet. “I try my best to be.” Janet smiles at her and Louisa smiles back and then puts her head back into Lisa’s neck.
