Hourglass [SEQUEL TO "Shifting Sands"]

PROLOGUE

                                                                                      Moons POV

They had been flying for a day now. Moon had Hourglass strapped to her chest in a sling, and Qibli the same with Pebble. Moon felt Hourglasses eyes on her the whole flight, watching her mothers every move. 'Hourglass, when will you stop staring at me?' Moon thought, exasperated.

'Sorry, mommy.' Moon cried and almost fell out of the sky, if the wind hadn't caught her. "Moon! Whats wrong?!" Qibli cried, flapping over to Moon. "Hourglass- she- she talk- talked to me- in my head!" Moon cried. She didn't care if she sounded insane. It was the truth. "What?" Qibli asked, confused.

 "Telepathy, Qibli!" Moon cried, too exhausted for this. "You mean- she can read minds? Just like you?" Qibli asked. "Yes!" Moon cried, horrified at the thought that Hourglass could talk to her with telepathy. This feeling, It reminded her of...no. He was long gone. But she still knew it was the same way that Darkstalker had talked to her in the mountain.

Moon stared down at her daughter, mortified. She gazed back, with a softer expression than her mother. 'Mommy, did I do something wrong?' Hourglass thought, with a sorrow expression. 'No, baby, you just...scared mommy, is all.' Moon thought back. 'I'm sorry, mommy, I didn't want to scare you.' Hourglass looked down, clearly upset. 

Moon sighed. 'Don't worry. We'll get used to this. This is our special thing, my weird little diamond.' Moon caught herself calling Hourglass what Secretkeeper had called her. She smiled, then her smile dropped at the thought of her mother, and not seeing her again for quite a while. She never even got to meet the twins. 

'Is that grandma, mommy?' Hourglass asked. 'Yes, sweetie.' Moon responded, sad. 'It'll be ok, mommy. It'll be ok.' Hourglass said through her telepathy, then put her tiny talons on Moons face, to reassure her. Moon smiled down at her. 

Everything was going to be ok, in its own way.
