As we get old we often forget things, but there are some memories that we cherish for a lifetime. It was during my school days, that there was this girl that I never liked, I didn't hate her but she was just so happy every time, she was so joyful even for the smallest of things, almost as if she was faking it. Our school decided to organize a food competition, I like to eat but wasn't fond of cooking, and the worst part was that she was my partner. As usual, she was very happy about it and I just couldn't stand that. Anyway, the day came and we worked hard, she was hardworking and even though, I didn't like her. My heart decided to give full support. Surprisingly the day wasn't so bad, yes she was laughing and hopping like a bunny, but her presence didn't bother me. My mind didn't want to admit it but my heart liked how she made me happy. As the day was about to end, I kind of wanted to spend more time with her. My heart was racing and my thoughts got lost somewhere in the clouds. The compitition was almost over and now everyone was looking at each other dishes . Just like a kitten jumping on you without a warning , she asked me -
Let's go to the terrace. We can watch the sunset
Sure.
We raced to the rooftop and was out of breath . The last rays of sun reflected on her face, seems extraordinarily beautiful, had i could freeze time . We didn't spoke anything, i looked at her
Hey, you are staring at me .
I'm sorry
It's ok, I don't mind
You look beautiful
That was unexpected, but thanks and also thank you , i had a great time today
I actually hated this girl? Was i stupid? She's so sweet .maybe i was so blinded by myself that i forgot to be happy in everything. The sun was almost gone now, darkness crept in . The night will start soon and the cold winds stuck us, she leaned towards me . I hugged her , she didn't resisted .
Her warm breaths on my neck, i didn't wanted to move.
Am i annoying? She asked with a faint voice
No. I replied
Don't lie, she said . I know you are not very fond of me . Actually i wasn't always like this, i was bullied at my previous school and never really cared for anything but after that day i decied to live my life to the fullest and make each and every day worth it.
A sense of guilt went down my spine. I kept holding her in my arms ..i looked at her , and her eyes were dreamy . Her lips felt like water and i was thirsty .
I always liked you, she said
I was in disbelief
She smiled and said , it was me who requested the teacher to make me you'r patner . The thing is i used to have low self esteem and that's why i kind of created this fake persona but you looked right through it and still you were nice to me . That was some time ago but now i know, i really wanted to be happy, she leaned closer
Though the winds were cold , we were warm. We lost track of time as if time itself was in standstill, i grabbed her bh the waist and she blushed. She looked in my eyes, her lips opened . I leaned towards her face, our eyes were locked , hearts racing like the wild ocean waves . My mind was foggy, i felt like a stranger in my own body . Our lips touched , this strange feeling in my body, which is beautiful and something i never felt before, my tongue made it's way into her mouth, we were in sync , i didn't wanted to let go. After sometime it was over , she told me we should leave before someone finds out . As she was heading towards the door, i hold her hand and pulled her closed, i can feel her heartbeat and kissed her again.
We felt each other breaths, our heartbeats .
I was speechless.
She smiled and said, it's our little secret.
After that, i only saw her a few times. She left school.
I didn't knew why, and what happened at that time.
Later , i found out she was fighting cancer the whole time and instead being in bed , she wanted to spend her time with her friends. I visited her home and her mother knew me, i was in shocked because it's my first time in her house, her mother told me -
That day, she was very happy, as she finally was able to confess her feelings to me and she was more than happy that she was able to do that, in what little time she had .
I will never forget her smile , the smile she had that day, as she was someone who made in fall in love for the first time
