A loud noise ripped me out of the dream.

I rubbed my eyes sleepily and tried to orient myself as best I could in the dark.

Okay, my grandmother's guest room looked the same as it did a few hours ago.
That was good.
That meant there was no reason to panic.

That strange noise came again.

It was getting closer.

The sound of clanging metal and heavy footsteps filled my ears.

What was that?

Did my grandmother still have visitors?
Or...or was it perhaps a burglar who was targeting her house?

I didn't like the idea of someone stranger being in the house.

"I know you're in there. Be a good girl and open the door!" the intruder sang through the door with a psycho melody.

I swallowed, my heart pounding.

I carefully crept out of bed to hide quietly underneath.
But as I tried to snake my way through the crack, someone pulled me back to my feet and clamped my mouth shut.

I opened my eyes in panic.

"Shhhh. It's me, Eli!" came quietly from behind.

When I smelled the scent of herbs I relaxed again.

It was Hardbroom. My savior in need.
But what was she doing with me?

"We have to disappear! "You're not safe here anymore," she continued.

Only gradually did I remember that she had come to see me before and had gotten into my head to look for something.

That's how she found out about Hook and my search for answers about my parents' deaths.

I now knew that anyone who knew too much paid with their life.
just like Hook had that day when he followed a hot lead.

The thought of his death pained me greatly.
That's why no one else was allowed to die because of me.

If this thing was after me, it was something I had to deal with.
but if HB were to offend because of me, I could never forgive myself.

I had to protect her.
Even if it meant sacrificing my life to save her.

I felt two strong arms wrap around me.
The outlines in my room slowly became blurred and a few moments later I found myself in a slightly lit large room again.

"Wait here, darling! I'll be right back," Hardbroom told me and kissed me tenderly on the forehead before she quickly left the room.

Wait, what was my teacher planning?

I had no time to think as  above me a whispering voice spoke via speaker magic.

"Good morning Elisa! I know you're hiding around here somewhere. Come to the enchanted forest at 3 o'clock and face me.
Otherwise I will unleash the horror of the night on all your little friends. Do you really want to risk that?"

I then heard a metallic clink before everything became quiet.

I felt sick.

He was here.
The madman who came to see me at my grandmother's knew where I was.

What did he want from me?

And how did he know my name?

the door burst open and a completely distraught Harschmann stormed in along with Ms. Graustein.

The former immediately took me in his arms.

"Eli please don't go there. We'll find another solution. " she whispered.

,, I have to. Otherwise he will kill everyone I love. "

"Elisa is right. It's the only chance to put an end to it. But  you should watch something beforehand. It's important that you know. ", the director intervened and motioned with her head for me to follow her.

My eyes went to my potions teacher.
our eyes met and I felt countless butterflies fluttering in my stomach every time.

She nodded and gave me her hand.

I hesitated.

When she noticed it, she just said, "It's okay. She knows."

I quickly pulled myself together and took her hand.

her warmth flowed through my body.

A gentle smile appeared on her lips as she looked into my eyes.

"Are you ready?" she breathed.

"I am," I came back trembling.

Was it true what Ms. Cackle wanted to show me?

Xx
