"That man is no longer my father"
Why was Binna doing this Why was she trailing him like this through dim streets and blinking streetlamps, her heart pounding louder with every step? Why did she care so much about what he was doing out here, alone, in the cold night?
She couldn't say for sure.
But there he was, across the street—Yi-chan, clutching flyers in his hands, his brows furrowed, a storm of worry clouding his expression. His eyes darted left and right as he moved quickly, as though time were running out.
She had only gone out for last-minute art supplies—for herself, for her sister. That was all. And yet here she was, standing frozen by the storefront window, staring at him like he held answers to questions she didn't even know she was asking.
Without hesitation, she paid for her things, the plastic bag swinging from her hand as she hurried to follow him. She didn't understand the feeling tugging at her chest, just that it was impossible to ignore.
What has him so preoccupied? Why is he moving like that—like someone's life depends on it?
Yi-chan weaved through narrow alleys and unfamiliar turns, and she struggled to keep up. His pace was unrelenting, and for a terrifying moment, she lost sight of him altogether.
Her breath quickened as she walked down a set of stone steps, the white bag crinkling in her grip. Cold air bit at her cheeks. She turned a corner—and froze.
A motorcycle screeched to a stop just inches from her, its light flashing against her wide eyes. The rider—a girl with a bob haircut under a glossy helmet—jumped off, concern written all over her face.
"Are you okay?! I didn't see you there—are you hurt?" the girl asked quickly.
But Binna brushed past her, not even pausing to answer. Her world had narrowed to one question: Where was Yi-chan?
