"I got it from my mama"
It had already been a few days. Ever since Yi-chan was discharged from the hospital, Binna had done everything in her power to avoid him. She ignored his messages, his calls, even the times he showed up at the front gate asking to see her. As far as she was concerned, he no longer existed—at least, that's what she told herself.
But that didn't explain the ache in her chest.
That night was cold. A faint fog clung to the windows as she leaned against the glass, her breath clouding the surface. Her eyes were hollow, distant. Below, through the iron gates of the estate, Yi-chan stood with a small white plastic bag in hand—tightly gripped, like it meant something.
It did mean something. She recognized it. It was the bag she had forgotten the day everything changed.
There he stood, like a ghost, waiting patiently in the chill, his eyes fixed on the mansion, searching for a glimpse of her.
Binna's heart twisted.
She didn't know how to be in love. She didn't know what it meant, what it felt like—because she had never allowed herself to feel it. And yet... every time she thought of him, every time she saw him...
Her stomach tightened with unfamiliar nerves. Her chest swelled with something terrifying and new.
She pressed her forehead against the window, sighing, overwhelmed. She wanted to run outside. Wrap her arms around him. But she couldn't. Her pride chained her in place. Her fear kept her silent.
She couldn't fall for someone. Not unless she was ready to lose them.
In the reflection of the glass, she saw movement—someone stepping into her room quietly, gently closing the door behind him. She turned, startled. It was him.
The boy from that night. The one who had stood up for her. The one who had called her mom.
