TW: Depression and implied suicidal-attempt

Hanzo Shimada was known for his stoic expressions. It was hard to tell what he was feeling or thinking, like a closed book. Always so distant and cold towards others. Only three persons were lucky enough to get past that barrier, like Genji or Zennyatta, who could -somehow- tell what he was thinking about.

The third person was Cole Cassidy. Most people, when learning about this, are confused. How can the ex-leader of a yakuza clan decide to open up to a dude who dresses like a cowboy from all the agents. And to be honest, Cassidy himself didn't know either. He didn't do anything too special for Hanzo. Just treat him with respect and make sure he is comfortable around him and others.

But after a few weeks of having met each other, Hanzo asked him frequently to do stuff together, from training to just relaxing. During these activities, Hanzo would sometimes open up a bit and confide to him his feelings. How he still felt guilty of what he did to Genji, how he felt out of place in the team, and especially how much he struggled mentally.

Cassidy quickly understood that he was given a lot of trust and worked to help his friends the best way he could. After almost a year, they decided to take things a bit farther by starting dating. Genji was glad, Hanzo was doing so much better, and was starting to talk with others.

But even when Cassidy went to see the more sensible part of Hanzo, he was still very stoic and a bit cold toward him. But he knew that Hanzo just needed his space and would eventually open up completely to him. All he had to do was wait and be ready to listen.

But he never thought he would see Hanzo in so much pain like that day.

An omnic attack occurred in the city where him, Hanzo and Genji were staying. That should've been a quick battle. But everything went horrible run.

The city was destroyed. A lot of innocent lives were lost. They were heavily hurt. But Genji was in a critical level. Cassidy remembered him calling for help while Hanzo held Genji's hand.

Genji's breath was heavy. "Hanzo... I... I'm afraid our paths... will separate..."

"No, don't say that." Hanzo held his hand tightly. "You'll survive... Help in on its way, right, Cole?" Hanzo looked at me.

Cole glanced at Genji. He didn't have the heart to say the truth.

"Hanzo..." Genji called him. Hanzo responded. They went on, talking a bit in Japanese. Hanzo didn't stop shaking his head. Sooner, Genji breathing stopped with a last draw.

Hanzo eyes became teary. He hugged his dead brother and whispered something. The whisper became louder while he rocked the body a bit, like a big brother rocking his baby brother to sleep. He pleaded and begged in his native language, crying heavily...

That image of Hanzo crying and sobbing stayed in his head, even after weeks of that incident. A few times, he woke up from he sleep, still hearing Hanzo's desperate pleading.

His brother dead he hurt him like it never did. And Cassidy knew it was up to him to take care of Hanzo now.

One night, he went to him dorm, and knocked on the door. "Honey, it's me, Cole. Are you there?"

There was no answer. Cole slowly opened the door. He saw Hanzo lying on his bed. He got in and closed the door behind him quietly.

"Honey..." He made his way to him and kneeled down to unwrap his face from the blanket. A miserable look appeared in Hanzo face. "Hey, honey... I brought you some food," Cassidy says with a soft voice, showing him a little package of Chinese food.

"I'm not hungry," Hanzo sighed, turning around, giving his back at Cole.

Cole sighed. "How are you feeling?"
