Dominic and Celeste sat shoulder to shoulder, sitting on the warm sand on Naples beach. In between them, they passed a blunt, rolled by Celeste herself. They sat on a blanket, chit chatting about their day as the sunset. It felt like a scene out of a movie, but Celeste noticed that there were many of those scenes when she was with Dominic. "Cel, when did you start skating?" He asked, interrupting her thoughts. "I started when I was like 10. My older brother skates, so he got me started." Celeste explained, exhaling the smoke from her body.
"You have an older brother? I haven't seen him around your crib." Dom asked, his eyebrow cocked up. "Yeah, he kinda does his own thing. He comes by every once in a while though. Him and my mom don't really get along too well." Celeste shrugged, she didn't seem totally wrecked by the absence of her brother, but Dominic knew there was a part of her that missed him.
Celeste fiddled with the warm sand, letting it slip through her fingers and back on to the earth. There was a comfortable silence between the two, just the waves and smoke to accompany them. "You haven't told me about your family." Celeste softly spoke, looking at the boy with hopeful eyes. "They're cool. I have three siblings, older brother, and two younger. It's us and my mom. Her name is right here on my arm." Dominic laughed a bit, pulling his short sleeve to reveal the giant Jessica he had tattooed there. Celeste held back her laughter, softly slapping her hand over her mouth to hide her smile. She jumped from her cross cross position to sitting on her knees, completely taken back by the large font. "You can laugh, Cel," Dominic chuckled, which allowed the girl to release a laugh of surprise. "Dom, what the fuck! You coulda got something not so...."
"Drastic?"
"I mean yeah. That shit is so funny. It's so corny. I love it though." Celeste smiled, changing her seating position so that now her legs laid out in front of her. She hit the last few puffs of the blunt, before putting it out and lighting another one she had rolled. "Tell me about your siblings." Celeste spoke, handing the blunt to Dom.
"Okay. There's Sean, my older brother. Then Alex, he's my best friend. You have to meet him, I think you guys would get along. And then the baby, Apple. Well Apollonia but we call her Apple for short." Dom talked about his family, Celeste took note of how his attitude changed on each sibling he talked about. He seemed closed off about Sean, but she could tell Alex and Apple were held dear to his heart. "I love babies. I wanna meet them." Celeste nodded her head. Another comfortable silence fell between the two, just the blunt being passed.
A FEW HOURS LATER...
Dominic's body scraped against the cement, his board sliding out from underneath him. "FUCK!" he yelled out of frustration, the pain surging through his body not helping at all. He quickly composed himself, standing up and going to look straight for his board. "Cmon, LSG! You had that shit bro. The fuck you scared of?" Dominic's best friend, Maxwell, shouted, stuffing chips in his mouth. "LSG?" Celeste asked from her spot next to him. "Don't tell her!" Dominic pleaded. "It's his gamer tag. Lord Space Gooooooat!" Max sang, as Dominic slapped a hand over his face out of embarrassment. Celeste cackled, it was such a silly user for someone as reserved as Dom. "Nooooooo!" Dominic whined, earning a laugh from the girl. "It's his rap name." Max finished. "You have yet to show me your bangers, Dom!" Celeste stated, almost scolding him for not doing so yet. "Some day, babydoll, some day soon." He smiled warmly at her before doing some casual skating in a circle around the girl. "Stop doing that you're gonna make me dizzy!" Celeste demanded, as the boy ignored her. He continued to skate, causing Celeste to become annoyed and gently shoved him off his board. He tripped off, laughing at the fact that she really decided to push him. "Dumbass," She laughed out.
Suddenly Dominic's phone began to ring. Pulling it from his pocket, he saw a random number was calling him but it was a Naples area code. With furrowed brows, he answered, "Hello?"
On the other side of the call was the voice of his little brother Alex. "Dom, I need help. It's some shit with the cops and they said they'll let me go if you come get me, bro, please. I cannot call mom for this!" Dominic could hear the desperation in his voice, automatically rolling his eyes at his brother's idiocy. "Yeah dude. Where you at?""I'm right here in Moorings. Just near the Hampton Inn." Alex informed his older brother.
"Ight. You're buying me my next few Gs of weed." Dominic playfully scolded.
"Fuck no!"
"Remember i'm saving your ass. Bye!" And with that Dom, hung up. He sighed, not really wanting to end his day with Celeste this early. It was only 8pm, he didn't skate with her home till at least 10.
"Cel, you wanna come meet Alex?"
