-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rain drizzled down from the sky, the air was crisp with the smell of the rain. Dave walked on the sidewalk of the nearby town, there wasn't work today since the circus closed on Sundays. He felt the rain fall on his clothing softly as he zoned out to the scenery around him. He couldn't help but reflect on what had happened in the past few weeks, he made a new friend. Huh. He made a new friend. That's something right? He never usually made friends...ever. He only made a slight drama between him and Jack...it was just a misconception. As Dave stared off into the distant trees as he walked, he heard a person calling his name from far behind him. Dave stopped in his tracks, and turned his head and then body to face to who he just happened to hear.

"Daaave! Oh my god! I've been calling you're name like a million times!!" the voice rang as it came up to Dave, Dave recognised it as Kristy. Oh, Kristy. Great.

"Nice seeing you too, Kristy," Dave remarked sarcastically turning back forward from how he was initially walking, Kristy quickly caught up to Dave.

Kristy immediately didn't hesitate to start a conversation, which Dave had mostly zoned out of. Kristy rambled on about work, and other weird stuff. Seriously, did this girl have no shame for anything she shared?

After what felt like hours of listening to the black haired girl pour every thought out of her head, Dave actually paid attention to something she started saying, "And so my family kept saying, 'get a job! Get a job!' and I was totally not having it, but then I found the circus and I was like 'Oh shit, they're hiring! This is great'"

Dave briefly paused, "So...you only got the job because your family told you to? I thought this was just a fun summer job," he interposed.

Kristy paused in her speaking, "I- that was one of the reasons too," she grumbled, arching her shoulder defensively.

"You're awfully defensive for a small comment like that," Dave said with a sigh, "do you have anything else to say other than your family pleading you to get paid?" he questioned, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets.

Kristy relaxed her defensive state and sighed, "Ah, well there's one other thing I've thinking about recently..." she started, Dave prayed it wasn't about anything mental, "there's this boy I recently gained interest in...ack! He's so cute!" she expressed, covering her blush with her hands.

Dave raised an eyebrow, and then rolled his eyes, "Oh, of course. Who is it?" he asked, gaining slight curiosity in who the crush was of the girl he never considered his friend, frankly.

Kristy giggled nervously, "Oh...only someone you know!" she hinted, removing her hands from her face and glancing at Dave with a smirk.

"Uh...well I certainly doubt it's our boss...that's just weird....uhm, I know fuckin' uh...oh I don't know a lot of people," Dave thought, he marked a few people off his head that he knew, and he was left with one person in mind...wait-

"It's Jack!" Kristy announced, a bit too exicted.

Dave felt his throat tighten, he didn't understand why. Is Kristy serious? The guy she met only a week ago. "Oh, that's- well, good for you then," Dave quickly replied, to not seem like he was jealous or something...he wasn't of course. Maybe he just envied the thought of...Jack dating her...and him breaking apart their bond...and growing ever so distant,

"I know, I know, definitely a shocker to you. But hear me out, just his smile is enough to kill a crowd! Ough, and that ginger hair! I could go on for hours about so many things I favour out of him," Kristy explained, and before Dave could respond, she started listing out at least 15 details per second about her gushing over Jack.

Half the stuff Kristy said Dave didn't even knew Jack had or it wasn't anything he noticed. How did this girl know this stuff from only seeing him briefly a day in a week? It was a bit creepy frankly, and Dave thought he was weird.

Kristy's words were overcome by Dave's train of thought rocking his brain. He had a lot of question, yet he knew the only thing that would come out of him to speak would be short and he wouldn't get the answer he wanted.

"..So ya' know I'm considering asking him out possibly this week when I see him again," Kristy word's interrupted Dave's thoughts and Dave nearly choked on his tongue.

"OH, Oh- That's - yeah, do that, that'd be great, uh huh, yeah," Dave's words jumbled together like a big plate of spaghetti that had no end or beginning.

Kristy caught on to Dave's unusual behaviour and glanced at him with a look, "Are you okay? You look and sound like you saw a ghost."

Dave quickly cleared his throat, "Ack, no, sorry. Sorry, I got distracted and you startled me, b-but I think I need to head back to my house...I'm getting hungry and I don't have any money on me," Dave patted where his shoulder bag usually was, but it was absent. Dave silently gripped the place where the bag would be, and just shuffled away ever so slightly, "It was nice catching up with you, really, we'll talk again at work- yeah.." Dave glanced away many times as he backed up and then eventually completely turning the other direction and speed walked back home.

Dave didn't bother looking back for any farewell to him from Kristy, he just had to get back home. Dave had an uneasy feeling in his stomach, and it was definitely not because he was hungry. How could Dave feel jealous of Kristy having a crush on his best friend? The words Kristy first told him about her crush on Jack weirdly crushed him in a way that strongly displeased him and jumbled his mind in a way where words were incoherent.

Eventually, after 5 minutes of awkward walking and second guessing himself, Dave made it home. He slammed the door open unintentionally, and then quickly closed it with little sound. Dave cringed slightly to himself when he heard Henry's yell across the room for slamming the door.

"Sorry! Won't happen again!" Dave called back, and uneasily made his way back to his room, he entered swiftly and made sure the door was hardly audible to anyone in the house...specifically Henry. Dave searched around his room to find something to write with and a paper the scrambled until he found a small book that weirdly enough had a lot of empty pages on it. Dave began writing down his events of today, the next best thing to do from telling someone your issues is writing them after all.
