The Christmas Wedding

It all started three years ago on Christmas Eve. I was at my bestfriends Christmas Eve party and was having a great time. Later in the night I decided to go outside and take a walk in the garden as I watched snowflakes trickle down from the sky. I was soon confronted by a very handsome man who just so happened to be my bestfriends brother.

"What are you doing out here all alone?" Joshua asks.

"Just enjoying the crisp winter air." I explained and turned to look at him.

We walked around and talked as normal people would when they see each people they know. As we were walking, we made our way into the gazebo. We stood there and talked for a few minuets more until Joshua looked up at the ceiling and smiled softly. I followed his gaze and my eyes met with a mistletoe. My eyes widened as I lowered my gaze back down to Joshua. He then looked me deep in my eyes and it went silent. It was so silent that I could hear the snow falling from the sky.

"Do you know what it means when two people stand under a mistletoe?" Joshua asked me.

I nodded, to scared to speak.

"Then show me." He whispered huskily.

I looked around to see if anyone was near, but it was only the two of us. I looked back at Joshua and then moved my gaze to his lips. He then lowered down to my level. He took my chin into his big hand and places a gentle and loving kiss on my lips. His lips were so soft, it almost hurt me to have to pull them apart from his.

After that, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I happily said yes.

The next Christmas Eve, me and Joshua spent it with my family. We got dressed up because my parents had wanted to have a fancy dinner with family and friends. Both mine and Joshua's families were gathered in the house together. I was standing with Joshua's mom and my mom by the fireplace when Joshua came over and got down on one knee beside me. I turned to face him and gasped. Everyone then went silent.

"Angelica, I know we have only been together for a year, but this day is exactly 365 days since we officially became a couple. So I thought that today would be the best day to do this, in front of both of our families. So, Angelica, will you make me the happiest man alive, and marry me?" He asked with tears swelling in his eyes.

I immediately nodded and said yes as tears ran down my cheeks. Everyone cheered for us.

*************

And that brings us to today. Christmas Eve, the next year. I sit in my hotel room and wait until the limo arrives to bring me and the girls to the church. Once the limo arrives we all hop in and drive to the church. Once we get there everyone steps out and goes into their line formation for entering the wedding. My dad comes up to me and links his arm around mine. He looks at me with tears in his eyes and smiles.

"Are you ready for today?" He whispers.

"More than ready." I reply with a soft smile.

He nods and looks ahead as the music starts. My brides maids and the grooms men make their way to the end of the isle after the flower girl spreads flowers everywhere. Then the music begins to slow. The doors open and my dad and I step onto the isle. I look ahead at Joshua and we both lock eyes. His eyes immediately swell up with tears, a few escape and roll down his cheeks.

Once we reach the end of the isle, my dad kisses the top of my head and goes to sit with my mom. I make my way up the steps and stop once I'm standing in front of the priest. Me and Joshua both read our vows and say our "I do's".

"You may now kiss the bride." The priest says.

Joshua cups my face and pulls me into a passionate kiss. All of our family and friends burst out into cheers. Joshua and I pull away from each others lips and link our hands together. We walk back down the isle and go outside. Before we can make it to the car that is taking us to our honeymoon, Joshua stops us. He grabs me by my hips with one arm and then points up with the other. I look up and see a mistletoe hanging above us. I chuckle and lower my gaze to him. I stand on my tiptoes and press my lips onto his. We then get into the car and wave to everyone before the car drives off.

I lean my head onto his shoulder and close my eyes.

"I love you." I mumble into his arm.

"I love you more." he says with a chuckle.
