As Luke entered the imposing glass doors of Miller Enterprises, he could feel the tension in the air. Jason Walker was leaning against the reception desk, a scowl etched across his face.
Luke looked at Jason with an odd look.
"Jason? Is something the matter?" Luke asked.
"There's someone here who wants to see you Luke. He's in my office now... I'll be off soon."
Jason said, he looked like he wanted to punch a hole in the wall but he was holding it in.
"What do you mean?! Are you not the CEO anymore?"
"Well- there's someone who is going to be helping out now. He's not full time CEO but, long story short, if I stay around, I'll probably be reevaluated to Military Director. It was nice- but you know."
Jason looked at everything before making his way towards the exit, he took a look at Luke.
"I'll be back soon, don't let that son of a bitch touch anything he's not supposed to."
Jason fully left and reached into his jacket pocket, likely taking out a pack of cigarettes.
Luke walked up to the room he was asked to go to, Jason's Office. Luke knocked on the door.
"Come in!" A scruffy voice answers.
Luke opened the door and saw who was sitting in Jason's seat.
"Josey... I should've known." Luke said with distain in his eyes.
"Known what? That this place rightfully belongs to me?" Joseph said as he turned his chair around to look at Luke, he had white hair and was a bit bigger framed than Jason.
"It doesn't belong to you! It belongs to the Millers. I don't even get a shred of what this company makes, because you, Jason and Seth leech this place." Luke said sitting down.
"Oh ho! I'm sorry, but did you help Robert build this? Did you help him in every situation?" Joesph asks putting his hand on the table.
"He'd have wanted me, John and Claire, God rest her soul, to live comfortably..."
"And you do, don't you?"
"I fight to make a living everyday-" Luke said, looking down.
"No matter on that, you have almost no reason to be here other than because you were Robert's son." Joesy said with no hesitation.
"Fuck you! I'll see myself out, I wouldn't want to work under you anyways! Dad chose his friends very poorly." Luke said as he got up.
Joesph stood up.
"You got that right! That's why he's buried in Ryker's Cemetery now."
Luke stared at Joseph and clinched his fist, he wanted to do nothing but slam his fist into him as hard as possible, but it would get him in trouble that he couldn't get out of.
Luke walked out of the office, and soon the main facility. He kept walking the way around, he had never felt this amount of seething anger.
Gambetti Estate
8:30PMThe sprawling grounds of Giovanni Gambetti's estate were vigilant as Luke approached. The mansion, a testament to wealth and power, stood imposingly against the moonlit night. The security at the entrance eyed Luke with a mix of curiosity and suspicion.
"Hold up, who are you?" Security asked.
"Tell Giovanni that Luke Miller needs to have a word."
After a brief communication on the earpiece, the gate creaked open, allowing Luke passage.
Entering the grand foyer, Luke was greeted by the sight of Giovanni Gambetti himself, seated in a luxurious armchair, a glass of whiskey in hand.
"Luke Miller! What brings you to my humble abode?"
"We need to talk, you said you knew things- connections to my family."
Giovanni chuckled, taking a sip of his whiskey.
Giovanni looked at Luke with a sly smile, his eyes studying Luke's every move.
"What can I do for the last remaining Miller? Is it about your family's misfortunes, or perhaps something more... personal?"
Luke tensed, but held his ground.
"I want answers, Gambetti. About the night my family was murdered, about Miller Enterprises, and about you."
Giovanni's eyes narrowed, the room seemingly tightening around them.
"Our father's were great friends. They built the way for modern day Baltimore. My father helped your father escape a bad life after you were born. What happened to your family, well it was no accident."
Giovanni lit a cigar.
"You need to come and work for me Luke, way better pay than Miller Enterprises, better work environment I'm sure." Giovanni said.
Luke was confused but ever so curious.
"I honestly would, but I need to stick by the loyalties of my name." Luke replied.
"Lucas Scott Miller, let me break something down for you. You want to know why I approached you at that ring? Because, you aren't who you think you are."
Giovanni got up and looked up to the stairwell and began walking.
"Come with me."
The two ascended the grand staircase, Giovanni leading the way through ornate hallways adorned with artwork. Luke hesitated but followed, a swirl of emotions clouding his thoughts.
Giovanni stopped in front of a large painting depicting the founders of Miller Enterprises, including a young Robert Miller and another man who bore a striking resemblance to Luke.
"Meet Antonio Gambetti, our father."
"This can't be- what are you talking about Giovanni?" Luke said, his voice trembling
"My father and your mother... well they had a hidden love for one another. Your father was no saint either- you've got another brother in Germany! Hah hah!"
Overwhelmed by the sudden revelation, Luke felt his breath quicken, his chest tightening as the weight of the truth pressed upon him. He staggered backward, gasping for air, the room spinning. Giovanni watched with a calm demeanor, allowing Luke a moment to grapple with the newfound knowledge.
"How could I have been lied to for so long? Why did no one tell me!" Luke looked up to Giovanni with tears in his eyes.
Giovanni paused at the top of the stairs, turning to face Luke with a sympathetic gaze.
"Robert and Antonio, both made a choice to keep you safe. They didn't want you entangled in the web of our family's history. But now, circumstances have changed, and you find yourself at a crossroads."
