The red leaves on the ground reminded Minna of something more deadly. The black of their tablecloth with red roses in a vase made her think of something more broken. The black of the pavement made her think someone's unforgiving eyes.
Minna twirled her long hair around her finger absentmindedly. Jeremy was rambling about something on the couch as Minna made their coffee, unaware that Minna's mind was a two thousand, four hundred twenty-nine miles away.
She snapped back to reality when the coffee beeped and started pouring out of the machine. She watched the dark liquid and slowly reached for the half and half on the counter. As she did, Jeremy watched her delayed movements.
"Minna, you okay?" he asked.
Minna shrugged without looking back. She poured the half and half with trembling fingers and slowly twisted the cap back on. Her eyes flickered from the coffee to her hands as she mixed, mixed, mixed. Nothing fell.
"Minna?" Jeremy repeated.
Minna kept her focus on the mugs as she slowly walked them over. Her feet padded silently against the floor, her socks sliding instead of lifting her foot all the way.
She could feel Jeremy's eyes boring into her. She looked out the window.
"Minna, you want to talk about it?"
She shrugged again.
"Hey, look at me, please."
Minna turned her head slowly, raising her eyebrows.
"You need to get at least one thing off your chest. I see it's burdening you and you aren't doing well. Okay?"
"Fine," Minna muttered. "When I got my first period, the master threatened to use... other methods to punish me."
Jeremy's lips parted. "How many times?"
"Three."
"My god, Minna. How are you even okay with us touching you? Being near you?"
"Because... I trust you guys. And I trust the Foxes. And you earned my trust. I know you won't do anything to hurt me. Not intentionally, anyway."
Jeremy offered her a hug. Minna placed down her coffee and drifted closer. Closer... closer... closer.... She melted into his arms.
Jeremy cradled her for a few moments and then let her go and gestured to the television. Minna nodded and sat down, curling against Jeremy's side.
Her mind kept flashing and the show Jeremy was binging didn't keep her thoughts off Riko.
She refused to look at her phone, which she knew was blowing up from Jean. She just couldn't.
Not now.

Minna has a lot of issues and she doesn't like the Trojans' psychologist. Dr. Bak I think? I only mentioned him like twice in the earlier chapters of Trojan Horse.
