I never really liked sunflowers, really? That's really all I could think of when I looked at the garden of my new home. The home was in truth beautiful. The front garden itself wasn't very big but well-kept it consisted of a bed of healthy green grass evenly divided by a wide long pathway that lead to two flower beds, one on each side and scattered on it were an array of wild sunflowers, the pathway eventually lead up to a porch which greeted to a pair of double wooden doors, if you tilted your head up just a bit you'd be able to see the entirety of the double storied house complete with white walls and beige green accents tied together with it's dark grey roof.
The house is 10 times better than the previous apartment building my dad and I lived in New York, this small town was a lot quitter too, which I appreciated, I didn't fail to notice how everything looked the same in this town either as every house on this street looked exactly the same to mine... my thoughts about my new home were disrupted when my dad called for me.
"Ava, could you please assist your poor father carry these boxes in?" he smiled before joking "all this hard work's already killing my back!"
I rolled my eyes before saying "Oh please you haven't even done anything."
He smiled sheepishly at me as I exited car. I was happy for my dad he was able to score a new job and start a fresh after the divorce. The divorce with my mom hadn't been easy on anyone especially on him, it was a horrible messy divorce, it was also an unexpected one, especially considering my parents were in the kind of marriage that only really existed in fairy tales, I was right about that btw, it could only really exist in fairy tales, my dad was madly in love with my mom and my mom was madly in love with Ronald, one of my dad's former mutual co-workers. Yep. She cheated on my dad and left us, left me, she didn't even try fight for custody. I was always a daddy's girl anyways.
We carried the boxes up to the door which opened to reveal a white, gray and black color-based home, the entrance led right into the living room and behind it the kitchen if you turned to you right a hallway with 2 room's I'd yet to explore. The home was modern and beautiful. It was already mostly furnished since we'd been planning on moving for a while so the boxes we carried consisted of the rest of our clothes and kitchen supplies as well as some personal stuff.
"Why don't you take your boxes upstairs, I can do the rest then we can go shopping for groceries later" my dad suggested. " we can even stop by and grab some ice cream" I perked up at he's words as he laughed a small laugh, but he's smile didn't reach he's eyes, it rarely did after the divorce, I knew my dad was tired, I could see the bags under he's eyes and I could hear the yawns he tired to hide as he talked to me about the town as we drove here so I decided to let him rest
"It's okay dad, I can do the groceries" I suggested.
He looked at me questionably, "Are you sure honey it won't take-"
"Dad really, it's okay, I'll go do the groceries while you unpack, and you can thank me by ordering in tonight." I even added in my signature smile to really convince him.
My dad didn't try to fight me, which meant I was right, he was tired. He smiled, "Okay honey, anything for you, I'll send you a list."
I nodded my head and shot one last smile before I went up the stairs with my boxes in hand. My room was on the far-right side of the hallway while my dad's was on the far left side, the room next to mine was a bathroom followed by a guest room before my dad's room, I entered my room, I'd already had it painted white with one emerald green focus wall, my room was considerably big. A queen sized bed was pushed against the green wall and was covered with white and lilac pillows, a cream duvet and a light green and white crochet blanket laid on top, by the entrance to my room stood a desk where I could do my work and directly opposite my bed was a small makeup table with a mirror, stool and draws accompanied by a chestnut closet, the wall at the right side held up a big window which could look directly into the neighbors window, where another room seemed to stand, remind me to have my windows stained, and my very own bathroom which was behind my emerald green focus wall. I opened my boxes and decided to dress into something a little bit more casual to go grocery shopping, I decided on a pair of lose gray sweatpants and a plain white tank top, I put all my wavy mid back length brown hair in a messy bun and proceeded to look at myself in the mirror.
