It Should have been me...

Chapter 3

Danil didn't expect the relief he felt when he was told that Kim was awake and on the road to recovery.

Ivan had kept to himself for the most part, he had to attend to the mess Danai had made along with the fact that he was leaning toward letting Kamol retire...

"We will visit today, you will tag along so that you can apologize properly..."

"Are you sure you are going to let him retire?"

Ivan shook his head disapprovingly...

"This matter is only between me and Kamol, I had enough of you intervening in things that don't have anything to do with you... you have caused enough as it is..."

Danil felt shame and anxiety corse in his veins, his brother might have not berated him yet, but he wouldn't hesitate to do so now when he saw for himself that Danil wasn't going to change his stance on the entire thing.

The entire car ride to the hospital was silent, his brother ignored his entire existence... and Danil stawed in his worry.

What would Kamol do when he saw him? How will Kim react? He had hurt Kim enough that it would be impossible for him to not react in anger.

When the car stopped in the parking lot of the hospital, Danil's heart fell to the bit of his chest.

Kim woke slowly, so slowly and so calmly...

Kamol was standing near the window, facing it, his back was tense and rigid and Kim couldn't help but worry.

"Kamol?"

Kamol turned and walked back to Kim, sitting on the bed next to him...

"Kim, My love? How are you feeling? Are you still in pain?"

Kim smiled softly at him, moving so that his hand could caress Kamol's face. rubbing the space between his furrowed brows.

"I am fine, It doesn't hurt as much anymore... What happened? Are you ok?"

Kim saw the temptation in Kamol's eyes to not tell him the truth, and sighed... He refused to be shielded, He wanted the truth as it was.

"Can you help me sit up?"

Kamol nodded, fixing the bed so that Kim could rest comfortably on many pillows, Kamol sat facing him, reaching out to take his hands into his, his eyes searching his face for traces of pain or uncomfortableness.

He needed to make sure Kim was comfortable with what was coming next Because for him Kim came first and foremost... and nothing was going to change that.

"I... I want to ask something of you... I would understand if you say no..."

"What is it?"

"Ivan... and Danil want to visit you... They will come today... Ivan said that he wouldn't tell me his decision regarding my retirement till you have woken up..."

Kim took a second to think about it...

"It's ok... you will be here, right?"

Kamol moved forward, tugging Kim to lean in his arms and wrapping his arms tightly around his shoulders.

"I won't be anywhere else but here, I will always be where you are..."

Kim relaxed in Kamol's arms, Kamol moved back and dropped a kiss on his forehead.

"It will all be alright, I promise you..."

Kim nodded, He knew Kamol was not going to go back now... both of them settled for a bit, Kamol just basking in having Kim in his arms...
