His fangs pierced through my neck, but strangely, I felt no pain. The next thing I knew I was waking up on soft silk sheets, knowing only one thing. I was now a vampire.

4 years later. Nothing has changed. Same castle, same silk sheets, same constant thirst for blood.

He trapped me in the castle, never able to leave. He says it's for my own good, but I know the real reason. He wants me all to himself.

"I want to go to the village! Just one day is all I need. Please Malcom! I have not seen anyone in years!" I plead.

"I've told you countless times we can't risk it. I'm sorry." He doesnt sound sorry; he never sounds sorry.

"Please, Malcom. Even just an hour!"

"I told you no! Cant you listen for once!" He picked up a glass on the table and threw it across the room shattering against the wall.

I ran to my room blocking the door with a chair, then running to my bed. My tears soak the velvet blankets. I eventually decided to go to sleep. I lie in my bed and begin to drift off.

I open my eyes to a blond boy hovering over me.
"Claire wake up! We need to run we cant have him catching us!" I was filled with confusion but decided to follow his instructions. I got up onto my feet and...

I wake up drenched in sweat, breathing heavily. I thought about my dream. What happened, who was the boy? Was it a vision? Ive heard of witches having visions but never vampires, so I assumed it's just a dream, but the thoughts still filled my head. No matter how hard I tried to block it from my mind, the thoughts still lingered.

I thought for a long time but then came to a conclusion. I am going to escape the palace. The only problem is I needed a plan, and I needed it by tonight.

After thinking it over I produced a plan. It wasnt the best plan, but it was all I got. Now all I need to do is wait until Malcom is asleep.

For hours I carefully perfected my plan. I guessed me and Malcom weren't on speaking terms due to the argument earlier, which will only make this easier.

I check the clock, it is now 12:30 which means Malcom will be asleep, so now I can initiate my plan.

I sneak down to the kitchen to grab a blood bag. I can hear Malcom's snoring from his bedroom, so he is in a deep sleep, thank goodness. I get to the kitchen tiptoeing to the ice chest, dodging all the creaky floorboards. I open the chest and grab a bag of deep red liquid, chugging every last sip. That should last me two days at least. I thought about grabbing one for my bag, but it would be too suspicious.

I walk back up the carpeted stairs, looking at all the portraits one last time. I wonder what life will be like when I leave. The word freedom echoes my mind, I begin to grab the dresses Ive tied together, carefully throwing them out the window to form a long rope. I look back once more, then begin scaling down the building. I stare at the open sky, which I have not seen in years. Stars brighten the dark blacks and purples, while the full moon rests in the corner. I never realized how much I missed it until now. I continue to scale down the building, suddenly I feel soft, green grass below my feet. I made it to the ground.

I knew what to do. I had to run. I had to run fast. I looked around at the forest surrounding the palace deciding what path to choose.

I was about to begin to run when I heard a wolf howl. I shook it off knowing it can't hurt me, I'm a vampire and it's just a wolf.

I begin to run. I never really got used to vampire speed since I never had to use it in the palace, but I caught the hang of it pretty quickly. I eventually reached a tree which I decided would probably be the best place to sleep. I climb the tree and lie down on the thickest branch, ready to sleep.
