The Yes Yes Board

It Begins

'Look what I have guys!' Emily smiles, waving a box in our faces. I sigh, knowing exactly what it is.

'Emily, is this even necessary, we both know these are fake, you admitted it yourself...' I grumble.

'Yes, It is Raven, I want to speak to Chloe again, you know I do, and I know you do as well!' Emily knows me so well. Chloe is, sorry was our friend. Unfortunately, she died in a car accident a few months ago. I never really liked her,  such a showy little thing right for the start. But Emily is right, I do want to hear her beautiful voice again. I bite my lip anxiously, looking at Eve, Maisy and David. They look at me with hopeful eyes.

'Fine, but if anything goes wrong, it's your fault, I've told you what can happen if you don't play properly!' I whisper, sitting down at the table with them. Emily smiles and cuts open the box. The Ouija board slides out onto the table. It looks beautiful in the dim light of the kitchen. The letters and numbers and illustrations looking stunning even though it's a demon summoning board. I take a deep breath and reach out for the planchette. I place it on the board and put two fingers on it.

'Ready?' I ask, looking at everyone. They smile at me and place their fingers on the planchette. I smile at David.

'Would you like to do the honours?' I ask.

David smiles and we start moving the planchette in circles. 'Hello, spirits of the past, is there anyone there who would like to communicate with us.' Nothing happens as we continue to move the planchette in circles. David speaks again.

'Is there any spirit out there who is willing to communicate with us tonight?' Suddenly the planchette moves to 'Hello'. We look at each other in amazement. I'm astonished myself.

'Ok guys, nice try, who was it?' I giggle. Eve looks at me, then Maisy, then David, then Emily. I open my mouth wide, Eve smiles then nods. So it is real.

'Hello dear spirit, may I ask what your name is?' I say loudly, scaring everyone. The planchette moves to C then H then L the O then E. I gasp. So the Ouija board is real.

'Are you truly Chloe Waterhouse who attended our school?' Maisy asks. The planchette slides to Y then E then S. We all gasp, then hear a car pulling up in the drive. I quickly speak out remembering to say goodbye.

'Are you going to say goodbye Chloe?' I ask. The planchette moves to Goodbye, then we all say goodbye. We take our fingers of the planchette staring at each other in amazement. I still can't believe we contacted our friend Chloe, hopefully we can talk again, hopefully being successful again. Because many bad things can happen.
