Abby slid into one of the back booths of the run down diner. She put her school bag on the seat next to her, and pulled out some crayons and some sheets of paper. Mike had yet to come from his graveyard shift at Freddy's, which was nothing new. It was most likely he had fallen asleep once again, without setting his alarm for 6am.
As Abby drew what her day was like at school, one of the local taxi drivers she had made friends with slid into the seat across from Abby, a waiter right behind him.
"Aren't you the little lady that came into my vehicle with one of Goldielock's three bears?" The driver said, his smile hinting that he was kidding. The waiter behind him laughs slightly.
Abby smiles back. "That was one of my friends! Sorry he flattened one of your tires.."
"I was about to throw hands with him there for a second!" He laughs. The name tag on the driver's chest read, 'Cory.' The waiter behind him reminded Abby of her brother. They looked alike, the only difference being this man was clean shaven, his hair was well kept, and he was dressed nicely. His name tag read, 'Ness.'
"Are you Michael Schmidt's younger sister? He comes here often. I try to spark up a conversation, but he keeps running off on me! He must be an introvert.." Ness says, scratching his head. "But that's just a theory."
"Stop." Cory gives Ness a death stare.
"But-"
"No."
Abby giggles at the two men, before nodding. "Mike is my big bro. He is REALLY REALLY introverted."
Ness nods, opens his mouth, as if to say something else, but chooses to stay silent. Cory smirks. "Ness has the hots for your brother."
"I do not! I am a straight-"
"You're more gayer than my taxi."
"Wait huh-"
Abby watches them bicker, just as Michael storms into the diner, looking like he went through a war. Abby runs to him, hugging him, as Michael hugs back.
"Ness and Cory kept me company!" She says, all smiles, before skipping out of the diner, leaving the three adults behind.
Michael rubs the back of his neck, and looks at Cory and Ness. "Sorry about her.. She's something else."
Cory laughs, sipping on a coffee he had ordered. "Na, dude. You're good. Little lady is really sweet. Right, Ness?"
Ness was staring at Mike, who was also looking at Ness. Cory stands to the side, blinking. He then clears his throat.
"Both y'alls ankles gonna be broke if you don't stop."
Ness looks away, while Mike clears his throat. Cory sighs. "How about we do a man's night out and go out to the graveyard to do totally legal things!"
Mike seems hesitant, as he didn't have anyone to babysit Abby, but nods. "I'm free tonight." Ness nods in agreement.
Cory laughs, and puts his arms around both of them. "YEAHHH. SPOOKY SCARY SUNDAY IN THE GRAVEYARD!"
