Felix pulled his stool over, helping Jeongin down from on top of the counter.
"Your not allowed to be up there, Innie" Felix told his brother. Jeongin ignored him and ran off. Felix looked at the pot on the stove, having an idea. Ju Won was busy trying to get the other boys to finish thier homework and clean their rooms so Felix had the bright idea of trying to cook to help his dad.
"Innie! Do you want to help me?" Felix found his brother again. Jeongin looked at his toys then decided that being with Felix was more important and he followed his hyung back to the kitchen.
"Be careful, Jeongin" Felix warned his brother. Jeongin nodded, climbing onto the stool and grabbing one of the plastic knives that he and his brothers were allowed to use. Felix handed him a carrot to cut up and then the older went to fill the pot with water, using a small cup and making several trips since he was too small to carry the pot himself. Once that was finished, he turned the stove on and waited for the water to start boiling.
"I finish!" Jeongin presented the carrots proudly to his hyung. Felix thanked him, taking the vegetable pieces and dumping them into the pot. He had no idea how to cook but he had seen Ju Won, and occasionally Chan and Minho too, doing this so he guessed that he was doing the right thing.
"Now what?" Jeongin looked at the pot, unsure of what happened next. Felix was confused too but he was mostly just guessing the entire time so he tried to think of what Ju Won usually did next.
"I think we need to stir it. And we need meat" Felix decided, handing his brother a piece of chicken to cut up. He had his back turned, which was the worst possible thing that he could have done at the moment but Felix didn't realize this and it was too late.
"OWW! HYUNGIE! IT BURNS!" Jeongin screeched. Felix turned to him, panicking. Ju Won had heard his youngers from upstairs and came running down, going to the kitchen.
"Okay, everyone in the car!" Ju Won called. The boys went out to the car, not even questioning where they had to go in the middle of the day. Ju Won drove them to the hospital and got Jeongin checked in. The family had to wait outside in the waiting room.
"I didn't mean to! I didn't know it was that hot" Felix cried, blaming himself. Ju Won held him in his arms, rubbing the kid's back to try and calm him.
"I know you didn't mean for this to happen. Innie is going to be okay, I promise" Ju Won whispered to Felix, muttering assurances until the kid fell asleep. Ju Won got called back to be with Jeongin and then the family was leaving and going home.
"I'll take care of the mess, dad" Chan went to the kitchen, cleaning up the pot, the carrots and the half cut chicken that Jeongin was supposed ot be working on wehn he touched the stove.
"Thank you, Channie" Ju Won smiled at his oldest son. Chan dragged Minho and Changbin to the kitchen to help him.
"I want to talk to you two for a second" Ju Won sat Felix and Jeongin down on the couch, sitting in front of them.
"I just wanted to do soemthing nice for you" Felix explained.
"I know baby and I appreciate you wanting to do that. But there is a reason that we have rules. I don't let you boys cook alone for this exact reason. I don't want one of you to get hurt. Do you understand now?" Ju Won lectured. Felix nodded, finally understanding and turned to Jeongin.
"Hyungie is sorry for getting you hurt" Felix wrapped his arms around his little brother. Jeongin looked extremely confused but he knew that he was being loved on so he was fine with that.
"Alright, now lets go make dinner. With supervision this time. If you want to learn how to cook, just ask me and I will teach you" Ju Won led the way into the kitchen to find Chan and Minho and Changbin were already prepping dinner.
"I just finished giving your brothers a lecture on not cooking without me and you three are doing just that" Ju Won stated, crossing his arms. He wasn't actually upset. Chan and Minho knew how to cook and he could see that they were keeping a close eye on Changbin to prevent a second trip to the hospital in one day.
"Yeah but we're not the babies. We know how to be careful" Minho retorted.
"Not a baby" Felix pouted.
"Yes you are" Minho argued. Felix stuck his tongue out at the older boy so Minho did the same until Chan flicked him on the back of the head and the second oldest went back to helping his only hyung.
"What am I going to do with you boys? Felix, put an apron on" Ju Won handed Felix a small apron that used to fit Chan when he was the twins' age.
"Love us and deal with us until we turn nineteen at which point we will be on our own and leaving you alone for the rest of your life" Minho answered, getting a little too honest.
"Minho!" Chan scolded his brother. Ju Won laughed and shook his head.
"It's true!" Minho defended himself. Chan rolled his eyes and dumped the vegetables he had been cooking into a pot, adding a few other things. Changbin managed to get nine bowls out and set them on the table while the other boys, with the help of Ju Won, finished the food.
"Appa, pain!" Jeongin toddled in, holding his hand up. Bits of red were peeking out from the bandage on his entire hand, up to his wrist.
"Come here baby" Ju Won picked up the maknae, looking at his hand.
"Do you want some medicine?" He asked. Jeongin nodded and took the pain medicine that Ju Won gave him, looking much better though it was clear he was still in pain. Felix was watching with teary eyes, knowing he was the cause of his baby brother's discomfort.
"Do you want to show Lixxie-hyung that your okay?" Ju Won set Jeongin down in front of the older kid and Jeongin held his hand out to Felix as if to say 'i'm okay! see, look at me!' Felix stared at his brother's hand then, with the gentlest of care that Ju Won had ever seen from any of the eight kids, he took Jeongin's hand and kissed it.
"Sit next to Lixxie-hyung!" Jeongin stated, looking up at Ju Won.
"Okay, Innie. You can sit next to Lixxie" Ju Won moved Jeongin's toddler chair to the chair next to Felix's seat and got the younger kids in their seats, serving them and making sure they ate. He thought he would have to help Jeongin since the kid had one hand that was unusable but Felix took care of that, blowing on his brother's food to cool it down before slowly giving Jeongin small bites until the maknae's bowl was empty. Felix even wiped his brother's mouth and Jeongin let him.
