Chapter Thirteen

After the duo talked, Reina thought she'd watch Noctis do his training with Gladius. She saw that he was more serious with his training than he had been previously. Reina didn't say anything as she watched him train. She just listened to the two males talking as if she wasn't even there, even though she knew that Gladius knew that she was there.

"So you've been more than eager to do your training now, what made you get out of your room?"

"Reina is a live and well, I wasn't able to protect her when she had been attacked by the dragon kin prince. I know there are other threats out there that will make things bad for her. I want to be able to protect her. I can't if I'm not strong enough to do that, I refuse to lose her again." Noctis said as he blocked Gladius's attack before he parried the attack back to him.

"You never been this obsessed with a woman before, why now and why with her of all people? You didn't want to protect her before."

Noctis knew that he was right about what he said, but that didn't mean that he didn't have an answer for him. "That's because I didn't know she needed protecting before. Now I know that she does and I want to be able to do that for her."

"And your interest in her? That's never come up before either, why so suddenly you care about that woman?"

Reina was shocked and stunned that Gladius was asking questions that she had wanted to know from him, without him knowing that she was there. Noctis stopped what he was doing and looked down sadly.

"I honestly had no idea what I felt for her till she wanted to leave. I felt as of my heart was going to shatter in my chest hearing that she wanted to go back home. Especially after she out right told me that she once had a crush on me. That she was afraid of telling me in fear that I'd reject her. I want to be able to be there for her, I just...I just don't know how to express myself that's all." Noctis said sadly

Hearing what he said it made sense to Reina, his father didn't seem all that emotional towards him. She never once heard the words 'I love you' come from his father. It was obvious that the relationship between the two of them wasn't as close as her relationship with her parents. She would always express her love and care for her parents unlike him. He never once ever showed his love and care for his father. Which is something she had no idea why he wouldn't do.

"Guess after losin' your mother you really haven't had anyone to really be there for you huh?" Gladius asked curiously

Noctis nodded his head as he looked at Gladius. "Mhm, I already lost one woman in my life...I really don't want to lose Reina too. I don't think my heart will be able to handle it if I lose her again."

Reina's eyes widened hearing that he lost his mother, she was curious on where his mother was. Now it all made sense-his mother died. She would have to figure out at some point in time how his mother died so she wouldn't step on any toes. Gladius crossed his arms as he looked at Noctis seriously. "At some point in time you're going to need to tell Reina how your mother died, she should know about what happened to your mother. She should know why you aren't one to show your emotion after your mother died."

"I know, but getting the guts to talk to her about something like that...it isn't like me at all Gladius. I don't know what to say to her about it, I don't want her to make fun out of me for what had happened to me as a child."

"I'm a child now Noctis, I can handle whatever you tell me about your mother. I don't want you to feel like you need to hide yourself from me." Reina said speaking up
