Who am I? What am I supposed to do? Ever since she was little Silver had strange dreams. Cats came to her, told her she was destined for something special, but that she would need help. Silver dismissed when she was young, but now every night it was something of that. It was almost too unbearable. Silver left her twolegs one night in search of answers, plus she hated the soft life. Silver wanted to get out and do something, stretch her legs, make a difference. But there was no way she was doing that without help, that was the only thing that made sense to Silver. What are you trying to tell me? Who can I find that will help me? Is this even real? Silver thought helplessly. Just please give me a sign that I'm on the right path. One thing was for sure, that this was important.
She heard something in the bushes, almost immediately her gaze flittled upwards. Her fur was prickling along her spine, but she kept calm. A cool breeze drifted through the woods, sending more leaves to fall. Probably just the wind. Leaf-fall is so pretty around now. Silver thought, fluffing out her fur even more.
"Curse this bramble! Mouse-dung!" The hiss she heard next made her think otherwise.
"Who's there?" Silver growled. A shabby looking black tom-cat padded out of the bushes.
"Mouse-dung again! Sorry, am I trespassing-that's the fourth time today! You're pretty," the tom-cat said rushedly.
"Don't get cocky with me! You aren't on my territory but what are you doing out here! You look like a former kittypet, I would know," Silver snarled.
"And YOU don't get feisty with me. How would YOU know that I WAS a kittypet?" The tom looked genuinely curious. Silver noticed his gaze was not wary at all. Noted. Silver was unsure why he let his guard down so easily, but she sure wasn't going to.
"So you were a former kittypet," Silver sat down comfortably, wrapping her tail around her paws and continued," I was too." Though Silver found herself wanting to confide into the handsome tom.
"I was but I didn't like the soft life," he said casually.
"Me too. By the way, what's your name?" Silver asked unsure of why she was so trusting.
"Blake. Yours?"
"Silver." Is this the cat that will help me? He seems nice, and trusting. Also very handsome. Silver thought contently.
"You look pleased, am I just that charming that you are warming up to me already?" Blake joked.
"Yes." Why did I say that? Silver scolded herself internally.
"Oh, most cats say no," Blake remarked.
"Oh. Can I trust you?" Silver blurted out.
"Why, depends on what it is," Blake smirked.
"Are you sure I can trust you?" Silver asked one more time.
"Yes, I am good at keeping secrets," Blake said grinning.
What does that mean? Silver had to ask herself.
As if reading her mind Blake said, "Yes, of course you can trust me!"
Silver purred, "then let's head for sleep, it's getting dark." Blake nodded. They both soon fell into a dreamless sleep.

When Silver awoke Blake was still sleeping, snoring apprehensively too. She stretched, curling her tail, unsheathing and sheathing her claws. Instead of hunting, Silver started grooming herself. Purring contently, Silver walked up to the river and watched the fish swimming by. I wonder what it would be like to be a fish? Silver wondered. I bet they have a good life, not having to worry, just letting the current carry them.
