"Next time try to avoid anyone who has a thing for spiders."

Penny scrubbed hard at the counters of her Grandmother's apartment, the light brown stains of tea stubbornly refusing to budge. With a sigh, she declared defeat against the angry stain, tossing the sponge to the side with a huff. What a crummy way to be spending Christmas Eve.
The nurse exited her Grandmother's bedroom, adding the few supplies she'd used back to the impressively large bag of medical supplies she'd left on the couch. "Not to worry, it's only a cold. Should pass before the new year."
Some of the tense worry eating away at Penny dissipated, though tinges of the feeling persisted. There had one too many caught colds in her opinion. She didn't voice these thoughts, however, smiling at the kind woman and choosing a more appropriate response. "Thank you, that's relief. Is there anything I can do?"
"Just try to relax, get out of this flat or something." The nurse directed. "Go do something fun."
"Right. Fun." Penny glanced back at the persistent stain, resisting the urge to go back to the superficial productive feeling. Maybe getting out of the apartment would do her good.

Navigating down the busy shopping street, Penny did feel a bit lighter. The money she'd spent hiring an in-home nurse was certainty worth her piece of mind, especially if she ignored the dent it was leaving in her wallet. Besides, holiday cheer was everywhere, from the wreathes and lights hung across big store windows to the band of fake Santa's playing Christmas songs, to the brightly decorated tree's sitting on every corner.
It was all just so...peaceful.
"Penny!" Of course it was the usual culprit of her break in routine, though now she had started becoming accustomed to his random appearances. "Do you have any money on you?"
"...What?"
"No time to explain. I need money for a cab. Well, I don't need the money, it's for someone else, she's trying to get to her own wedding-and I've just realized I said no time to explain and here I am explaining-"
"Thanks for nothing, Spaceman!" A shout interrupted his out-pour of words, Penny looking past him as he turned to see a woman in a wedding dress hopping into a taxi, it's driver wearing head to toe Santa outfit, obscuring their face with a mask. "I'll see you in court!"
"Donna!" He called after her, but was either ignored or unheard.
From the corner of her eye Penny noticed the Santa themed band she'd idly clocked earlier aiming the ends of their instruments suspiciously specific to where the Doctor stood. "Oh, please tell me the Santa's aren't evil."
