Louri’s POV
I wake up to someone pushing at me and see Scarlett clearly dreaming about something. “Too warm.” She grumbles and next thing I know a blanket is on my head. “Louri, how do you do this? It's so hot here.” She says oh she’s dreaming about  the time she did the USO tour. I take the blanket off my head and grab the water on my nightstand deciding to mess with her and I splash her with it. “Agh what the fuck?” She  says. “You said you were warm. I’m just helping you cool down.” I chuckle. “Why are all the covers on you?” She asks. “You threw them on me.” I say. “Oh.” She chuckles. “I was dreaming about when I did that USO tour damn it was hotter than satan's asshole there.” She says, making me laugh. “Yeah I was debating on going full ass koala on you to mess with you  but the glass of water was too good to pass up.” I tell her. “I’m honestly not mad. It is a little funny now Thomas wants ice cream.” She says getting out of bed and into her slippers. “Ooo ice cream sounds good.” I say and follow her downstairs where she pulls out two pints of ice cream, one chocolate chip cookie dough for me and triple chocolate for her. “Don’t tell the kids we ate ice cream at three in the morning.” I tell Scarlett. “I do this every night, do I tell you?” She says. “No wonder I have to buy so much ice cream.” I say. “Yep.” She says taking a bite of ice cream. “Shit I hear footsteps.” I say and turn off the lights. “It’s three in the morning, you two.” Ma says turning on the lights. “Oh we thought you were the kids. Go ahead and grab a pint.” Scarlett says. “Scarlett, why are you wet?” Ma asks. “Louri dumped a glass of water on me.” She says. “Snitch.” I say. “Louri, why would you do that?” Ma asks. “I was dreaming about that time I went on the USO tour and was very warm and threw the blankets on her so she decided to mess with me.” Scarlett says. “Oh that’s funny.” Ma says. “Agreed.” I say. We finish our ice cream in silence and I throw away the now empty pints in the trash can in the garage to hide the evidence.
“Are you ready for your interview today?” Scarlett asks as we get back in bed. “Yeah it can’t be that bad right?” I say. “James is very nice and will not ask any uncomfortable questions and if he does I will get my gardening shears.” Scarlett jokes well. I hope she’s joking. “No shears.” I tell her. “Fine meat cleaver.” She says. “No meat cleaver either.” I tell her. “How else do I scare him?” She asks. “Get Pop.” I say. “Ooooo yes that would work.” She grins. “Honey.” I say. “Yes.” She replies. “You can be scary.” I say. “I protect those I love.” She states. “Yes you do. Jerry is still scared of you.” I say. “As he should be.” She says. “Will it make you feel better if you come with me to work today so you can be there when they interview us?” I ask. “Yes please.” She says. “Ok I’ll have Ma take care of the kids.

Scarlett’s POV
“Scarlett, are you ready?” Louri asks as she laces her boots. “Yep. Are you?” I ask. “As ready as I can be.” She says. “Ok lets get going Marine.” I tell her. “Have fun Mama, Mommy.” Devon says as we head out. We get to the base and Louri shows her ID to get us in. “Ok so we can just go to my office for now the interview isn’t till twelve.” Louri says and I link my arm in hers. “Hey Scarlett I knew you’d be here so when they came around getting coffee orders I got you one too.” Greg says as we enter Louri’s office. “You do know you have your own office right?” Louri jokes. “Yeah but you have nice chairs.” He says. “The anniversary of you joining the 4077th is coming up right?” I ask. “Yep, why?” Greg asks. “I now know what I’m getting you.” I tell him. “Whoa you don’t have too.” He says. “Greg there is no point in fighting it.” Louri says and she’s right I will get him a nice desk chair just like I did for Louri. “Well then thank you in advance.” He says. “Well I remember you saying something about how the chairs they provide here hurt your leg where your prostetec is attached and I’ve wanted to get you one like Louri’s anyway because I don’t want you in pain.” I ramble. “You remember me saying that?” He says. “Yeah she has a great memory.” Louri says. “And it’s ordered, it should be here tomorrow.” I say putting my phone away. “Thank you.” He says again. “Oh it’s the least I can do.” I tell him. “Well I do have some reports I’ve got to do plus my coffee will be delivered to my office. I’ll be back later for the interview.” He says before leaving the room. “You are one of the most kind people on the planet.” Louri says as she sits in her chair and I sit on her lap, her comment making me blush. We hear a faint knock on the door and I go to get up since it’s not very professional for me to be on her lap while at work but she doesn’t loosen her grip. “Enter.” She says and Sherman comes in with three coffees. “Good morning you two. I am glad my favorite daughter in law is here.” He says handing us our coffees. “I’m your only daughter in law.” I say. “Which makes you my favorite.” He says with a smile. “I saw the James Cordan interview. That was very sweet of you, Louri, to surprise her.” He says. “I was very happy to see her.” I say. “I could tell  by the way you ran into her arms.” He says. “I’m still surprised you offered to have the interview done here in your office.” Sherman says, catching me by surprise. That explains why one of the tables is missing and there are more chairs in here than usual. “Yeah, can you help me move my desk up?” Louri asks Sherman. “Yeah sure no problem.” He says. I get up and they move the desk forward a few feet and they put three chairs on one side of Louri’s chair and four on the other side so I guess the unit will be sitting with her behind the desk that she made, may I add. “Why are there seven chairs? There are only six other members of your unit.” I ask. “Oh in case you want to be a part of the interview it was Greg's idea he said you might not be a Marine but you are practically part of the unit.” Louri says. “Aww that’s sweet and I would love to.” I say. “Good Morning.” Jerry says walking in and Sherman and Louri immediately stand at attention. They salute him and he returns it. “At ease.” He says. “I just wanted to say hello. Word spread that Scarlett is here so I thought I’d stop in.” He says. “Scarlett, can you come with me please?” Jerry says. “Um sure. I’ll be right back.” I say giving Louri a quick kiss. “So where are you taking me?” I ask. “My office, I have a surprise for you.” He says. We get to his office and I see a small package addressed to me. “I was going to have Louri bring it to you but since you are here I thought I would give it to you in person.” He says. I open it and it’s a fatigue jacket but it’s the name tag that gets my attention it says [Mrs. Lt Colonel Evans] “Oh my god I love it.” I say. “There’s more.” He says and I pull out a shirt that says. [Honorable Member Of The 4077th]. “Jerry, I don't know what to say.” I say tearing up since everything makes me cry thanks to the damn pregnancy hormones. “You don’t have to say anything.” He says and I pull him into a big hug. “Did Louri know?” I ask and he nods. “I wanted her permission to get you something but she doesn’t know what. Sherman knows what I got you because I had to know what size to get so he asked Mildred.” He says. “Can I use your back room to get changed?” I ask. “Of course it’s that door, the other one leads to the meeting room.” He says pointing me in the right direction. I go and get changed and leave the jacket unbuttoned so you can see the shirt. “How  do I look?” I ask. “You look great.” He says. “Ok, you should probably get back to the Lt Colonel’s office before she gets worried.” He says.

Louri’s POV
“She’s not in trouble for being here is she?” I ask even though Scarlett has never gotten in trouble for being here since she has a pass. “No she’s not. I think the general might be giving her that present he asked for your permission to get her.” Pop says. “Oh yeah that could be it.” I say. About fifteen minutes later Scarlett walks in with a fatigue jacket and a shirt that says [Honorable Member Of The 4077th] it’s a good thing I am wearing my glasses because I am able to see the name tag on the jacket and it makes me smile reading the words [Mrs. Lt Colonel Evans]. “That’s so cute we match now.” I say except my t-shirt just says [4077th] and my name tag says [Lt Colonel Evans]. “Please tell me you will wear that during the interview.” I say. “I was planning on it which is why Jerry let me change in the back room of his office.” She says. “I’m glad it fits. I had to ask Mildred what she thinks is your size.” Pop says. “You knew?” I ask. “Yes the General wanted to make sure he would get the right size.” Pop says. “Well I’m going to my office to get my work done. Good luck with the interview.” Pop says as he gets up and leaves. “You look very nice.” I tell Scarlett as she sits on my lap. She rests her head on my shoulder as I do my work on my laptop.
