Chapter 7 - Outside

"Wha- What!?" Wheatly started.

He was stairing at Chell her hand was extended tward him as if to help him up. He reached out gentaly. Chell helped him to his feet. Lily was smiling deviously. Wheatly was still getting usto  finding faceial expresions. Chell had only ever smiled, frowned, or looked just staired nutraly. Whenever they were in the facility.

She didnt let go of his hand as he followed her outside. Wheatly had never been outside before. Sure he spent a year and a half but he hadnt been outside on earth before. The light hit him emedetly. After his eyes had finaly agusted Wheatly looked around.

They were standing on a flat stone pathway, infont of Chell's house. The path led up to a large dirt road infront of them. Multiple houses with there own pathways lined the road. The air was warm and the grass was a light green. Chell waited for Wheatly to ajust then continued to lead him acrossed town.

Chell led Wheatly by the hand turning the cornor. The middlie of the dirt road was filled with random carts carrying all sorts of things, as they went this way and that. People walked around aswell most of them stopping to stair at Wheatly. It was odd seeing so many people  and hearing so many noises at once.

Eventaly they left the lines of small houses to find much taller building many of them had stands lineing the outside walls that faced the road. Lily was still leading the way her long blonde hair streaming behind her. Wheatly pretended not to notice that Chell was still holding his hand as they made there way to a little wooden stand with a new sine nailed to it that read, Free kittens.

They walked up to the stand to see a small child whereing a dirty white shirt and blue overalls, freckles danced across her face and her hair was a firery red forming a long braid. The little girl wore a white petaled flower with a yellow center in her hair.

"Hiya Daisy!" Lily said.

"Hey Lily! Are you hear for the kittens?" Daisy asked turning her hazel gaze tward Lily.

"Yup!" Lily chirped. She pulled Wheatly over to stand next to her, "Now pick one!" She ordered.

Wheatly looked into the box on the tabel and saw four little creaters covered in soft fur playing. (He's never seen a cat) They were all seemingly playing makeing highpitched mewing sounds. Except one it sat in the corner gazeing at its sibblings. It was the littlest one a light gray kitten with white speckles. Wheatly watched it feeling somehow sad.

"What is that!?" Daisy asked watching Wheatly both scared and curiouse.

"Oh Wheatly? He's a robot Chell built. Shes been experimenting with artifital inteligence. Dont worry he cant hurt anyone." Lily explained.

Wheatly staired at her. In all this he had never taken the time to make sure they got there story straight. He knew Chell didnt want anyone to know about the facility. But they should have already came up with a plausable explaination for how Wheatly exisits. He turned back tward the sad little kitten. Its eyes were blue unlike any of the other kittens who all had gray eyes. Wheatly reached for the little kitten gentally scooping it up.

"Is that the one you want?" Lily asked.

Wheatly nodded fearing that Daisy would be more shocked if he spoke. Lily said her goodbyes to Daisy and they turned back twards Chell who had been hanging back while everyone else did the talking. They followed Lily to other stalls as Lily bought all sorts of items for takeing care of the new kitten. Lily and Chell helped carry everything home and get it set up.

"So what are you going to name her?" Lily asked gesturing tward the kitten.

Wheatly thought for a moment, "Atlas" he said thinking back to the teamwork bots names. Chell didnt know there names but while Wheatly was in charge he had figured it out.

Atlas mewed softly and Wheatly turned his atention back to her. He sat down cradeling the small kitten in his arms. Lily and Chell began to talk again with sine langauge on Chells side. All though Wheatly couldnt see what she was doing because her back was faceing him.

"Alright see ya later! Bye!" Lily called as she turned to leave.

After she was gone Chell turned to face Atlas and Wheatly.

She smiled slightly and then looked away heading back to the kitechen to makeherself something to eat. Wheatly watched Atlas hop down and play with a peice of fuzz she found on the ground. Atlas hopped around cheerfully pounceing on the fluff and then batting it into the air. Chell went to bed leaveing Wheatly untide. Does she turst me? A small voice in Wheatly's mind wondered. Eventaly Atlas fell asleep and Wheatly had nothing better to do then to sleep. (Go into sleep mode)

"It's been a long time. How have you been? I've been really busy being dead after you MURDERED ME!!!" Glados said. Gripping both Chell and Wheatly.

"You did WHAT!?" Wheatly shreiked. Gladous gripped him harder. He heard the fizzle then the pain of him breaking a little.

Glados tossed him aside and he was out. Shutting down so that the systum could figure out what to do.

"AAAGH!" Wheatly yelped.

It was the middle of the night. He rubbed Atlas's head gently feeling the soft fur.
