CLANG

The noise startled you, enough to wake you up, and you were a little upset at that. You stirred, the uncomfortable bed had turned into the most comfortable thing you've ever felt. You grumbled, cursing whatever neighbor made such a loud noise at such an hour. You opened your eyes and you were met with the harsh reality that it was not one of your neighbors, and instead, the skeleton with a hole in his head. You cautiously watched him from the bed as he slid a plate through the bars of your cell.

You weren't expecting him to look up and lock eyes with you, the dimmer light making him look scarier than he did in the room with all the others. You studied his face a little more, His glowing eye was perfectly round and empty, staring at you with something you couldn't quite pick up. He was smiling but it wasn't a happy smile, his was creepier and darker, as if he didn't want to smile at all. Come to think of it, they all had the same smile, his was a lot sharper and scarier than the others, but they all had the same eerie smile. His teeth were a little yellow, but sharp, so sharp you wondered just how easily he could bite you and break something. He wouldn't though, right? so far you hadn't directly seen any of them kill anyone but the fact they destroyed your entire world and one went as far as knocking you out, you wouldn't risk anything.

"Staring..problem."

He said it so flat you almost laughed, you would've if you weren't looking at someone who just reset your entire life. Nothing was funny about that. You looked out the window finally backing down from the staring contest only you had agreed on playing. It was dark outside, but you could see stars, so many stars. Much more than you could see in your smog-filled city. What time was it now?Maybe you could ask? Nah. You'll have to stargaze a little later.

You slowly kicked off your covers and slugged over to the plate, dragging it back a little further into the room before sitting down, never breaking eye contact with him.

"Thank you."

Your voice was hoarse, and scratchy from being fresh out of bed. His head only tilted in response. He was still crouched on the floor so you decided to try and ignore him and eat your food. Your stomach was rushing you to do so. You grabbed the fork and laid sloppily on the side of your plate, the handle was in the mashed potatoes, which were accompanied by some green beans and a pork chop. You have to admit, it looked pretty appetizing. you wiped the handle of the fork off on your shirt before digging into the small portion of food you were given. He kept staring.

With a full mouth, you looked up at him.

"Maybe you have a staring problem."

His smile seemed to widen. He stood abruptly and took about four heavy steps away until he was out of your sight, the heavy clang of a door indicating that he left you to finish your meal alone. You almost frowned, company would be something you'd miss if you were trapped here. Once you finished your plate you slid it back out of the cell door. That was when you noticed the cross pattern of the door looked a lot like the ones in Pirates of the Caribbean. If only you could remember how they opened the door...Oh well. Another thought for later. Where would you go if you got out anyway?

You made your way over to the window resting your arms on the ledge, the cold air hitting you a lot harsher through the glass. You looked at all the stars and wondered if there were constellations here like in your world. You felt like Rapunzel in her tower, and unfortunately, you were easily bored but unlike her, you had no paint to decorate your walls, and no mother to brush your hair. Your daydreaming was interrupted by the sound of the plate sliding against the floor.

You turned around to see the same skeleton taking the plate and replacing it with one cup of chocolate pudding. Huh. They serve dessert in prison. How thoughtful.
