Lisa's POV
Today is my birthday and there will be a lot of kids. I need to socialise once I head downstairs. I don't like a lot of people. I hate crowded places and I only want to have a peaceful and quiet celebration if you'd ask me, but I could not bring myself to say it infront of my mother. I could not refuse and stop her to feel happy. The day she explained everything about the situation, and talked about my birthday, I could see the excitement in her voice and the genuine look in her eyes. Instead of saying 'Mom, I just want to sleep after having our lunch or dinner on my birthday', I said 'Anything is fine'. In reality, parties aren't my thing. I don't like people treating me like a child. It's irritating me. But as I've said, I let her decide and arrange 'cause it wasn't for me, It was for her. I want her to feel happy by doing these things. She deserves it after being so lonely and alone for a decade.
"Lisa, you should come downstairs they all waiting for you" my mother peeked at my bedroom door
"Okay, mom. I'll go downstairs in a while" I replied as I tucked my shirt in my trousers
After heading downstairs, I went to the living room and saw the kids from the orphanage
"Happy birthday"
"Happy birthday, Lisa"
"Happy birthday. We miss you, Lisa"
I just smiled and said 'thank you' for the greetings
"Happy birthday, Lisa. Are you enjoying your party? Your friends are here too" the head of the orphanage greeted me and lifted her hand to pat my head but decided to stop before she even touch it and drop her hand to her side
"Thank you. The party's good and my mother is happy"
"Welcome. Really, that's good. Then, go and enjoy. Play with your friends"
I nodded my head then left. This day sure will be so tiring. The kids played different games at the backyard so it would be comfortable and I participated in two games so I would not be out of place. It's my birthday after all. I decided to get inside to rest in the living room
"Oh there you are!" The voice of my mother resounding in the living room. I looked at her and saw her with two other people
"Come here, darling" I walked towards them
"These are my two bestfriends, they are husband and wife-Mr. and Mrs. Kim" mother introduced
"And this is my daughter, Lisa" the couple Infront of me smiled lovingly
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Kim, I'm Lisa" I said and smile
"Hello, Lisa. It's nice to finally meet you. By the way, Happy birthday!" The woman smiled at me and patted my head. I stood frozen by the contract. I only allowed my mother to pat my head not strangers.
Ugh. What the hell
I can sense they're good people but ..
I hate people touching me
I need to get away as soon as possible
"Thank you" I simply said
"I'll head back to my room, Mother" I immediately walk away and did not wait for my mother's reply
It took hours for me to finally calmed down. I do not want to be aggressive infront of strangers especially infront of my mother. I needed to calm down because I still need to head downstairs. To my party. I can not wait for this to end. Ugh. Suddenly, there's a knock on my door
"Lisa?" Oh, my mother
"I'm here" I said as she entered the room
"I am sorry if that made you uncomfortable"
"I just don't like it when people touch me. I hate physical contact especially with strangers. "
"I hope you did not hate me when I did the same on your first day here. I got too emotional that I did not realised it"
"It's fine. After all, you are my mother now. But I still don't like it when it comes to strangers"
"Okay, I promise it'll never happen again, darling"
I nodded and said "Thank you"
After the conversation I had with my mother, we both headed downstairs and she entertained the guests. Until the party finally came to its end. I said goodbye patiently and politely to the guests and help my mother clean the house. After a very long tiring day, we clean, eat dinner and rest.
~~~
The next day, I woke up late. I did the same routine. Stretch my body, bathe and headed downstairs. I saw my mother in the living room with her laptop
"Goodmorning"
"Goodmorning, you go and eat breakfast first. I have something to tell you after"
I went to the dining room and eat peacefully. Afterwards, I went to mother.
"What is it you want to tell me?" I started
"I enrolled you to school. Next month, you will start going to school" she said excitedly
I simply look at her. Stunned. I did not think about school when I first came here though. I need to work. That what is in my head. But then I remember, I am still a 'kid' so this will happen
"Okay"
"We have to get you things you will be needed in school. Are you excited?"
No. Hell. No.
"Yes"
Starting next month, there will be a lot of some stupid spoilt kids around me.
"Then, later accompany me. Let's do shopping and get you things you will be needed in school so we won't be in a rush next month. The mall would be crowded by then."
Fuck.
This. Is. Really. Happening.
Do I have a choice?
Of course, none.
"Okay"
By the time we arrived at the mall, we first went to the book and supplies store and bought notebooks, pens and other stuff. And next, we went to the department store to buy a bag. My mom chose a color fucking pink bag. And hell, it's a NO. I would never use that. Over my dead freaking body. Of course, I took a lot of courage to refuse. Told her that is was too girly. And that's the color I really hate. So, in the end, I got a black backpack. Not too big. Not too small.
Next, we went to the shoe store. We bought shoes of course. And the last thing we did in the mall was to eat. Afterwards, we went to the school I'll be attending next month and bought a school uniform and got my first ever ID. Since there's only a month until school starts, we were allowed to enter the school and purchase uniforms and ID in advanced. After an hour, we finally went home. I fix the things I needed at school in my room, bathe and rest.
