-Dipper POV-

On a bus entering the quaint little town of Gravity Falls, Oregon

I looked out the window at the passing scenery as Mabel leaned against me, sleeping. As I stared blankly and mindlessly, the trees began to thin out, and I saw a sign that read "Welcome to Gravity Falls, Oregon!" My eyes widened and I smiled, shaking Mabel awake.

"Mabel. Mabel, wake up."

"Huh-wuh? What's going on?" She lifted her head and looked out the window as we pulled up to the bus stop.

"We're here!" I abruptly stood, leaving her to fall onto the seat, but propped herself up on her elbows.

"We're here? Oh my gosh, we're here!" She stood and grabbed her bags from the seat across the aisle from us, and I did the same. As we ran off the bus, I gave a twenty dollar tip to the bus driver as a thank you.

"I can't believe it! We're finally back!" I thought as I raced Mabel to the Mystery Shack. "It's been six years since we last stepped foot in Gravity Falls. I wonder if anyone will recognize us." Just to be safe, I pulled up an old image of us when we got home after Weirdmageddon when Mabel knocked on the door to the Mystery Shack.

"Seriously, Dip, why couldn't we have just walked in like normal people? It's a public shop, we don't have to knock to come in!" She questioned, looking up at me. In times like these, I thank puberty for clobbering me as a sophomore and not tapping my shoulder in middle school.

"Because, Mabel. I wanna surprise them." I showed her my phone, winking.

"Oooohhhhh, I think I know what you're getting at."

"Just-" I sighed. "Just follow my lead, okay?" She nodded. Just then, a woman with long, fiery orange hair opened the door, looking at us confused.

"You guys do realize that this is a public shop, right? You don't have to knock." She said, putting a hand on her hip.

"Dang, since when is Wendy this short?" I thought to myself before Mabel said something.

"See? I told you! We can just waltz right in, and no one will care. It's not Area 51." I sighed, pulling out my phone and ignoring her.

"Yeah, hi. Sorry about that. We're just looking for a couple of kids. Think you know them?" I held the picture of me and Mabel on my phone up so Wendy could see it. It took her a minute, but after looking between us and the picture a few times, she gasped, placing a hand over her mouth.

"Dipper? Mabel?" We smiled. I slung an arm around Mabel's shoulders.

"That's us." I said with a wide smile. That smile however quickly faded into a serious look. "Okay, but seriously. Who are these kids, and have you seen them?" I showed her the picture again, and both of the girls started to laugh. I smiled. This was nice.

"Jeez, I haven't laughed that hard since you two left. And you look so...different. I don't know how I would've recognized you guys without that picture or you telling me directly." I looked at the photo that was still on my screen.

"I guess we do look a little different, huh?" When I was twelve, anyone who saw me would've said I was a huge nerd just from my looks. But now, at eighteen years old, no one would have that impression of me at first sight. I was a lot taller than when I was a kid, and had built up a little muscle, too. My hair was neat, and I had a beard starting to grow in. I wore a black undershirt with a dark greenish blue flannel button up above it, with the first couple of buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up just above my elbows, so the tattoos on my forearms were visible. I had dark blue jeans on, too, and a brown leather belt to keep them up, along with some tan leather boots that Mabel got me for Christmas last year.

Mabel wasn't too much different, but a bit had changed about her, although her fashion sense was a bit more mature. She never got much taller, maybe a few inches. She left her hair the same, but braided it this morning, so it only reached down to the upper middle of her back as it was currently. She was wearing a pink button up with her signature shooting star embroidered on the left chest where the locker would be, a white leather jacket, denim skinny jeans with rips on the knees, light pink heart shaped sunglasses on her head, and beige heels. She had a pearl choker around her neck, a gold watch one of her exes got her for a birthday present a while back, a pair of sterling silver hoop earrings, and a couple silver dangly bracelets on the other wrist.

"Hey, uh, we still have your old room in the attic. It's the same as when you left. We never used it for anything else, really." Wendy stepped out of the doorway to let us in.

"Hey, thanks. We really appreciate it." I said, picking up my suitcase and following her in, Mabel doing the same.

The three of us walked up the stairs and into the attic. I took a deep breath after setting my stuff down.

"It's nice to have you two back." Wendy said, leaning against the doorpost.

"It's good to be back." I responded. Mabel was busy unpacking her things.

"Alright, well, I'm gonna go tell everyone you're back!"

As Wendy left, I started unpacking my bags too. I made my bed, hung up my clothes, and unpacked all the other things I had brought with me, shoving my suitcases under the bed. I plopped down onto my bed, interlocking my fingers behind my head and crossing my ankles.

"It's good to be back." I said after getting comfortable.

"It is, isn't it?" I looked over to Mabel's side of the room. She was hanging up her posters, some of which I noticed were for the FBI. That's when I remembered she wanted to be a part of the FBI to work in a field where she could be around weird things like what happened in Gravity Falls. Me, on the other hand, wanted to be a historian. That's one of the reasons we came back. For college.

I stared up at the ceiling as Mabel said she was going downstairs, and left.

"I wonder if Pacifica's still here?" I shook the thought away and sat up. I bent my knees, and rested my elbows on them, placing my head in my hands. "What am I thinking? They had to sell the mansion. They probably don't live here anymore." I cursed at myself under my breath. "Why can't I get her out of my head? Ever since the whole ghost problem at her old mansion, she's all I can think of. But why?!" I sighed, getting off my bed.

When I got downstairs, my breath hitched at what I saw, and I felt my cheeks flush red. Mabel, Candy, and Grenda. But it was the other girl who got me all flustered. "Pacifica?" The blonde looked over at me, releasing Mabel from a hug, her eyes widening a little.
