Recently you had become friends with Taylor, the two of you had been placed next to each other in class and soon your friendship bloomed.
Usually you just hung out with her in class, you had your own group of friends and assumed she did too.
One day you looked around the cafeteria and noticed you couldn't spot Taylor, you stood from your table at the cafeteria and decided you wanted to go find her.
You checked the hallways by her locker, the bleachers, the library and even some of the classrooms, you couldn't find her anywhere. You even went to the office to ask if she had left, but they said she had not.
You gave up, needing to use the bathroom before class so you made your way there. When you entered there was only you and one other person in there. As you walked in further you could hear quiet sobs, they sounded familiar but you weren't sure how.
Soon enough the mystery person began talking, you assumed on the phone.
"Mom, everyone hates me, I just want to come home, I hate it here," the mystery voice paused listening to her mom's reply. "She has a large group of friends, they'll all hate me too," she said her sobs becoming more audible. The voice sounded like Taylor's, and your heart sank at the realisation that she was the one in the bathroom.
There was silence for a few moments so you decided to make yourself known.
"Taylor?" you asked softly. "Is that you?"
You heard her take a deep breath before replying "Yeah, it's me," your heart shattered to know it actually her after all you had just heard with her conversation with her mom.
Stupidly, you asked "Are you okay?" causing her to break down once more. "Would you like to come out here?" you asked now standing outside the stall.
Without another word she opened the door, which revealed her standing there with red eyes and tear stains down her face. Slowly you wrapped an arm around her to move her out of the stall, before wrapping your arms around her completely engulfing her in a hug.
Taylor leaned into the hug, her shoulders trembling with the weight of her emotions. You held her close, offering a comforting embrace to let her know that she wasn't alone.
"Just know, even when you feel like everyone hates you, there's gonna be one person who doesn't hate you." you said assuringly not letting go of the hug until she was ready, you could tell she needed it.
"Who?" she asked shakily.
"Me." Taylor pulled away from you slightly looking at you surprised.
"You... you really mean that?" she asked, her voice wavering.
"Of course I do Taylor, we're friends," You explained giving her a reassuring smile.

From that moment you vowed to hang out with Taylor more than just in class. Hearing her story you were disappointed to find out she was often left out because people tended to think she was weird, getting to know her properly you were able to see there was no weirdness to her rather she was beautiful, kind, caring, rather shy and quite unique. Her music was something you wished you could hear everyday and her voice was angelic even when she did sing in the country accent.
You two grew close quickly and shortly you had invited Taylor to come sit with your friends, it was a big step for her, hearing her cafeteria horror stories you felt for your friend but assured you would be there every day. Your friends let her sit with them in the cafeteria daily, however you and Taylor tended to have seperate conversations.
