Pov Sage

Sage is 7 here

"Mom, mom, when are the new neighbors coming?" I whine.

"Sage, just be patient, they will come right away," Mom says.

I run around the house in my princess dress. Mom said there is also a little boy who is the same age as me. "Boys are dirty... yuck" I think and stick out my tongue. But if he also wants to play with my princess dolls, that's fine with me. Ding dong rings the doorbell.

"Yes, the neighbors are here," I shout and throw my arms into the air happily.

My mother chuckles and walks to the front door. The door opens. There is a very large man in a suit. And there is also a very beautiful lady in a pink dress.

"Mr. and Mrs. Brown come in," my mother says.

"Ma'am," I say.

The beautiful lady looks at me and smiles.

"Hello sweetie. What's your name?" she asks.

"I'm Sage," I say and put my two hands on my chest to make it clearer in case a Barbie is standing behind me.

"You are wearing a beautiful dress," I say and clap my hands cheerfully.

She smiles and strokes my head.

"Now now," I whine and cross my arms stubbornly.

"What is?" she asks.

"Now my hair is all messed up," I sigh.

The woman chuckles and says 'you look like Meri'.

Then the boy behind their steps catches their eye. He has blond hair in a quiff and looks bored. All the grown-ups walk inside.

"Hi, I'm Sage," I say again with my hands pointed towards me.

"I'm Meri," he says, more interested now.

"Do you also think messy hair is stupid?" I ask, sighing.

"Yes, very stupid," says Meri.

"I think it's really stupider," I say and nod convincingly.

"No, I think it's the stupidest thing," says Meri.

"No, I think it's more stupid," I say stubbornly.

"No, I think it's stupidest," says Meri.

"If you don't stop, you can't come to my children's party," I say.

"Okay," he sighs.

I give him a hug.

"Can we be friends?" I ask.

"No," says Meri.

I look sadly at the toes of my shoes.

"Can we be best friends?" Meri asks, smiling.

I smile and nod. He gives me a hug again. "Okay, I'll play with the Barbies, but only if you have Ken," he says.

"I have that too," I say happily and clap my hands cheerfully.

"Come on, let's go to my room," I say and point to the stairs.

Meri nods and follows me upstairs.

In my room I grab the Barbies.

I give Meri the Ken.

"He doesn't have cool clothes," he sighs.

"Do you have a marker," he says, grinning.

I get up and hop to my mom's room to grab a green marker. I hop back and give him a Meri. He colors all clothes green.

"Oh that's nice," I say.

He nods so I know he thinks so too. I grab my Barbie camper and start driving it. Meri stands on top of the camper with Ken and then holds Ken in the air.

"What are you doing?" I ask.

"He can fly," Meri says happily.

"I want to fly too," I say.

Meri jumps on my bed and then runs back to me. He takes Barbie and sends her flying too. He runs to me again.

"Now she can fly too," he says.

My eyes widen and I happily take the doll. I also run over my bed, then I trip and fall to the floor. Ouch... a tear rolls down my cheek.

"What happened?" Meri asks.

"I crashed," I sob.

"I'm coming to save you," Meri says.

He and Ken come flying towards me. He helps me up and Ken helps Barbie.

"Boys eat!" Mom calls at the bottom of the stairs.

"Thank you dear friend," I say.

"Please, best friend," he says and presses a kiss on my cheek, causing my cheeks to turn pink..
