"Dude, you'll never guess what just happened."
Scott eagerly probed through the phone.

"It's Beacon Hills, Scott, there are way too many things that could've possibly just happened. Does it have wings?"

Scott chuckled.
"No, no it's nothing like that. It turns out that my mom got an unexpected year-end bonus, you know, for all the shit that happened... and she has tons of vacation days that she's never used... partially because of all the shit that's happened..."

"Right..."

"She just surprised me, man, I'm actually going on a real summer vacation... like until August."

"Whoa what? Where? When?"

"I know, I mean, we leave on Saturday, but she won't tell me where yet. Honestly it doesn't matter where, it'll be nice just to have a break after everything."

"Yeah... it will... that's awesome. What about the clinic though? And what am I supposed to do all summer— I have like, no other friends."

"Deaton knows, he's got everything covered for the summer. And that's so not true, isn't Lydia around?"

"No. She's in the same boat as you, couldn't wait to get out after everything with Ms. Blake and the Nemeton, and you know, almost dying."

"I'll call and text...maybe you'll meet people—just don't go befriending any kanimas or werewolves you don't know."

"You know that would almost be funny if it weren't completely possible."

"You'll be fine, I gotta go though, an entire summer is a lot to pack for."

"Safe travels."

"Bye."

Saturday rolled around quickly and soon enough, Scott was gone. And though he appreciated the good faith, Stiles had absolutely no idea how to pass the time.

He thought about who might be around still. Erica, Isaac, Boyd...

'Damn, I really have no other friends,' he thought to himself. 'At least none that I'm close enough to hang out with.'

Then he remembered that both Erica and Boyd hadn't made it to the summer, and felt awful that he could've ever forgotten.

Erica was the first girl who had ever told him they had a crush on him, the only girl who'd ever knocked him out and put him in a dumpster, and the one girl who looked him right in his eyes and told him he made "a pretty good batman," after saving her.

And Boyd? That night with the Alpha pack at Derek's loft? What they did?

He didn't even know what to say to Isaac, let alone where he was. What can you say to someone who was orphaned, arrested, finally found family in a pack, and then saw half of it die? 'Sorry?' It's just too horrific.

Cora and Derek were gone. He had no idea where.

Everything that had happened still didn't feel real.

Sufficiently depressed, he spent most of the rest of that Sunday playing video games and avoiding reality.

By Tuesday, it turned out that video games got boring kinda fast without anyone to play with, and he looked over at his hamper in the corner of the room, deciding that laundry was a problem for another day.

Out of ideas, he flopped down onto his bed, staring at the ceiling.

"I'm gonna lose my mind."

He reached for his phone, and in scrolling down through old text conversations, he saw a name.

Outgoing Text: "Hey."

He put his phone down, unsure where they stood after everything, especially since the breakup, and whether she was even around or wanted to talk anyway.

(1) New Message

Allison Argent: "Hey"

His thumbs hovered over the keyboard, not having anticipated such a quick response.

"What's up?"

A.A.: "Nothing much, just reorganizing my room."
"You?"

"Nothing."
"Seems like everyone I know is on vacation."

A.A.: "Yup. I was about to call Lydia to ask if she wanted to see a movie and then I remembered she's off on some island trying to avoid banshee premonitions."

"Are there any good ones playing?"

A.A.: "Honestly I have no idea. I just wanted to get out of the apartment."

"Well I'm definitely not Lydia"
"But if you still wanna go see something, I'd be down."

A.A.: "Sounds fun :)"

"I can come get you around 6?"

A.A.: "Perfect"
