Pov Sage

Meri quickly grabbed a pair of nicer pants and a sweater from my closet. He also has clothes here. You might wonder why? Meri's parents are coming over for dinner soon and our parents never want us to look like slobs. Hey, their words are not mine. "Hi Anna and Koen. Come in," Mom says, opening the door. Meri's parents are standing in the doorway.

"Hello Sage" Anna says cheerfully? She gives me a hug. I smile. Koen also comes to me. "Heyy. Is Meri behaving herself?" he asks, chuckling. I look at Meri who is trying to keep his mother's hands away from his hair before it gets tangled. I chuckle and nod. "Beautiful," he laughs. He pats my shoulder and then goes to Mom. When Anna is also at Mom's, Meri comes to me with a sigh. "Avoid disaster," he laughs. I have an idea. I'll probably actually die doing this now but it's worth it. I run my hands through his hair. Everything is messed up. He looks at me with a look of 'you didn't do that'. A playful grin grows on my lips. "I'll get you little one" he shouts as I run into the kitchen. Meri runs after me. "Guys!" Mom shouts, but I continue to run. I quickly run out of the kitchen. I just hear Anna say "they're still children" and then she sighs. I laugh and run into the hallway. I feel 2 arms around my waist. Meri. He pulls me towards him. I start thrashing in every direction I can. He smiles. There really is no point in trying to get free because he is much stronger. But there's no harm in trying, right? He walks me back into the room where everyone is sitting on the couch. Meri sits down and pulls me onto her lap. I chuckle. "And Sage, how are you doing at school?" Anna asks. Yes, the typical question that literally all adults ask everyone at school has been dropped. "Good," I say. "Say, ma'am, I always get A's," Meri chuckles. "Admit it, it sounds better, sir, I never get a passing grade," I chuckle. He shrugs and nods. I chuckle. "We can go eat," Mom says as soon as the oven beeps. Everyone walks to the kitchen table. I sit next to Meri. Mom puts the food on the table and serves everyone. We eat lasagna. Me and Meri's favorite food. He looks from me to the board and grins. He immediately starts eating. I laugh and start eating too. "Meri!" Anna shouts. "Sage!" my mother hisses. "Yes, tasty food," Meri says with his mouth full. I burst out laughing.

When we finish eating, Meri and his parents go home. I help Mom clean up. She puts the dishes in the dishwasher and sits on the couch. She turns on the TV. "I'm going upstairs mom," I say. She nods. I walk up the stairs to my room. I put on gray sweatpants and a black t-shirt. Much better than those nice clothes. I grab my laptop and watch some Netflix.

I walk downstairs to get something to drink. Mom is sleeping on the couch. I chuckle. I turn off the TV and put a blanket over her. I quickly grab a glass of drink. I lock all the doors and go upstairs again. I walk into my room. I put my laptop away and crawl under the covers. I close my eyes and fall asleep.
