Pov Sage

I wake up to the sun shining in my eyes. I open my eyes and Meri is lying next to me, half dead on the bed. "Meri" I say and shake him a bit. No response, I'll do it again. He growls and pushes me away and pulls the pillow towards him. I chuckle and stand up. I walk to the wardrobe and grab some clothes. I'm going to the bathroom. I turn on the shower and step under it.

"Is Meri unconscious?" Mom asks, walking into the kitchen. I take another bite of my bread and look at her questioningly. Oh never mind. I chuckle "no he is sleeping but he is tired to get up again" she nods understandingly. She sits across from me at the table. "Sage, I have something to tell you," she says and swallows once. "What is?" I ask. I don't think I'm going to like this. "Daddy is back in town," she says. My eyes widen. You're probably wondering. Hey Sage, what's wrong with you and your dad? Well to make a long story short he often argued with mom. He cheated a lot. I didn't understand it then, but I do now. Then he left when I was 5. He has abandoned us. I don't need to see him anymore. "Don't you want to meet him sometime?" she asks. I look at her in surprise. She should understand that I don't want that! "No, absolutely not," I say, shaking my head wildly. "But Sage, he is your father," she says. "Not for me anymore" I say and get up and walk upstairs. I walk into my room and slam the door shut. Why did that jerk have to come back again? I hit the door once. "Sage had to do that," I hear Meri mumble. I let my arms fall to my sides and I feel a tear slide down my cheek. "Are you okay?" Meri asks. I haven't turned around yet. Another tear rolls down my cheek. I hear some noise and not much later I feel Meri's hand on my shoulder. He turns me to him. When he sees me crying he immediately pulls me into a hug. I wrap my arms around him. His shirt becomes wet with tears. "Shhht" Meri whispers in my ear and rubs my back.

"Sage?" Meri asks. I nod slowly. We sat down on the bed. Well, Meri pulled me onto her lap so I'm not sitting on the bed. "Are you okay again?" he asks worriedly. I swallow once more and nod. You may think I'm being arrogant, but I just don't have a pleasant memory of my father. "Do you want to tell me?" he asks. "I just want to sit like this for a while," I say and lay my head on his chest. He nods and presses a kiss to my hair.

I get up. "It was about Dad," I say softly. He nods understandingly. He knows the story. I sit down on my office chair. "I'm going to get some food," says Meri. He walks downstairs in his sweatpants. I grab my laptop, I think I still have to finish a report.

"Will the little one work?" I hear Meri ask from the doorway. I look over and just see him shoving a handful of cornflakes from the box into his mouth. Half falls to the ground. I chuckle and shake my head laughing. "Your mother asked if you were okay," he says and comes to stand behind me. "It's okay," I sigh and continue typing. "Sage the keyboard did nothing. It doesn't have to be broken," Meri laughs. I look at him questioningly. "You always crash on that thing when you're typing," Meri laughs again. He says that often. "I really don't realize that," I chuckle and also grab a handful of cornflakes from the box. "Hey, get your own cornflakes," Meri says, laughing. "It's my cornflakes, boy," I chuckle. "Oh yeah, I knew that," he mumbles, laughing, and then quickly stuffs his mouth with cornflakes.
