AZURITE WALKS THROUGH THE HALLS, TRYING TO FIND her locker that was numbered, #369. today was the first day back at riverdale high since summer break. azurite spend most of her time either reading or hanging out with her best friend, vanessa mantle aka nessa. they would hang out every couple of days. it was a routine.
speaking of nessa, she walks up to azurite who was looking around everywhere to find her locker. nessa taps her on the shoulder making the brunette turn to the raven haired girl.
"are you lost because i am too." nessa said making azurite laugh and that made nessa laugh along with her. "i can't find my locker."
"same."
"let's help each other then." nessa said, holding her hand out wanting azurite to grab it. azurite laughs and nods as she grabs nessa's hand.
the two were now on a scavenger hunt to find their lockers and ironically, their lockers were only one number apart from each other. they finally find their lockers after about a minute and they start putting their stuff in the lockers after using their codes.
"did you hear about the new girl?" nessa asked azurite.
"what new girl?" azurite is one of those people who always finds out about something very late. azurite gets left out a lot. she's a loner.
"veronica lodge. she came from new york." nessa said.
"when is she coming?" azurite asked, putting her stuff in her locker. azurite then starts putting pictures on the inside of her locker door.
there were multiple pictures of her and nessa but what stood out the most was the pictures of her and her big brother, aziel. he was one of the main targets of the northside of riverdale. aziel was a southside serpent, a gang in the south of riverdale and the most hated side by northside.
azurite, aziel, and nessa were the best trio until aziel started hating nessa's brother, reggie because reggie and the football team made insults about aziel being a southside serpent.
now the girls don't see aziel as much anymore.
back to veronica lodge. she just came from new york to riverdale for some odd reason.
how did she downgrade that much?
speaking of veronica, here she comes walking with kevin keller, the sheriff's son and the nicest and probably the smartest girl in riverdale high,
betty cooper.
azurite never knew the blonde girl personally but she has had a crush on for a few years―wait! did i say a few? i mean about 6 years. 6 years. yeah, that's right. azurite never told betty but she really liked her.
is it bad she still likes betty?
betty only spoke to azurite when needed. like, for a class assignment or if azurite was the only one there in a room with her.
azurite was always the second choice. unless it was with nessa of course!
azurite now thinks betty has hatred for her because every time when they even look at each other betty makes a face or turns very quickly in another direction.
"speaking of..." nessa said, looking over azurite's shoulder making the brunette look behind her.
azurite looks over at veronica, betty, and kevin. azurite locks eyes with the blonde girl standing beside the brunette boy. betty looks away making azurite sigh and look over to nessa.
"let's go, nessa." azurite said, earning a empathic look from nessa. the two girls walk away to go in the gymnasium for the assembly.

"thank you for that moment of silence." the redheaded girl, cheryl blossom says at the assembly. cheryl was riverdale high's popular girl. "many of you were lucky enough to have known my brother personally. each and every one of you meant the world to Jason. i loved my brother. he was, and always will be, my soul mate." weird statement. even azurite wouldn't say anything like that about her brother. "so i speak with the confidence only a twin could have. jason wouldn't want us to spend the year mourning. jason would want us to move on with our lives. which is why i've asked the school board not to cancel the back-to-school semi-formal. but rather, to let us use it as a way to heal, collectively...and celebrate my brother's too, too short life on this mortal coil. thank you, all."
azurite looked over in betty's direction, admiring the blonde for a split moment before nessa pulled on azurite's arm to go to their first class.
'shit. i'm falling deep and hard.'
'haha. that's what she said.'
