You wove your wings based on the past,

They fluttered and you changed yourself.

From what you had learnt, you forget a mask,

That is what you wore, a new identity.

That is how you became my butterfly.

My most precious papillon,

Facing the future and the arduous tasks,

I had never seen one so strong.

Tearing through the despair.

I witnessed the first crack in your spirit.

I can't give you any advice anymore.

The one who my heart is so proud of,

I have never before seen one so sore.

So crushed by the world.

I held you tightly as you cried for the end.

Your heart turned cold,

The wings you worked so hard for in disrepair,

My eyes saw the darkening of your soul

As you wished for the worst

For the end of those who hurt you without regard.

Who would have expected this?

A small, beautiful butterfly creating

Such a strange twist.

A world of destruction, a world of hurt,

A pain in my mind where the bullet struck.

What did I do to you, dearest butterfly?

I who used all my effort to help you soar.

I never knew your hand would be my death.

I suppose those who change can surprise you most with who they become.
