Emotionally Abused I walked with a heavy heart. I didn't have a plan, it was unexpected. I never thought I'd end up like this. Comfort ability, a person's worst enemy. I looked at the crumpled bills in my hand, not enough to get a room but maybe some food.

I felt like I walked endlessly down an empty and dark road, my burning rage to keep me warm. Mindlessly I continued on my journey eventually approaching a bright neon lit sign. 'Mack's Truck stop'. I entered the gas station, the cashier immediately lifting his head as the bell rung. I made my way over to a random isle picking up a cup of noodles and some water. I took the items over to the register where the cashier began ringing them up. "Isn't it late for you to be out at thus time of night"? I pondered on his question, considering answering. "No". He shook his head thoughtlessly. I didn't have the energy for small talk. I handed the cashier some of the bills while pocketing the rest in case of an emergency.

"Have a nice night, and be careful miss". I nodded at the worker before grabbing my bag and leaving out of the gas station. As I mad my way back onto the road a black car with tinted windows slowly started driving down the street behind me. I payed no heed to the car with the thought they could possibly be lost. I walked further down the road with the car still in tow, panic starting to rise within me. I take two left turns and one right, this car was really following me. Slowly but cautiously I start speeding up my walking. The car is faster of course and pulls up beside me and rolls down the window.

"What're you doing all alone". He had a nasty smile plastered on his face that caused goosebumps to arise on my neck. I tried to ignore him and kept facing ahead. "Where you headin". Continuing to ignore the man I kept walking. "Come on I'll give you a ride". The car came to a stop and I felt that if I didn't run I'd be kidnapped. I bolted towards the tree's the car back on and now speeding in my direction. Still running through the trees I heard the car door open and slam with heavy footsteps behind me.

I felt fire burning in my chest but I kept pushing my legs to keep running. Ducking behind a near tree, attempting to control my beating heart threatening to leap from my chest. "I know you're out here". My breathing picking up its pace as I feel his presence approaching.

The crunch of a leaf catching his attention and he heads in the other direction. I wait before exiting from behind the tree and making my way back onto the main road. After walking through a neighborhood I find a library open 24 hours. I make my way into the library and find a secluded spot in the corner. Setting down my bags I slumped into the cushion if the chair. I lost my appetite and just wanted to sleep, finding my wish soon granted.
