Tears fell and hit the ground
As he circled around.
I watched as he tried to apologize
But no compromise will help.
“It’s too late,” I say
Even if he wants me to stay.
He says sorry like an angel
But he played with my fragile heart.
Even all the begging
Can never heal all that
I’ve been bearing.
“I loved you with a fire red, but it’s turning blue,
It’s time to start anew.”
I’ve been holding onto his rope
And all my hope
Was in his hands
Now I’m going down the lowlands.
“You tell me that you love me, then you go and cut me down,
but you never thought I’d turn around.”
“I’d take a shot for you”
Lies fly from his mouth
As I look into his blue eyes.
“It’s too late,” I repeat
With my loud heartbeat.
I turn and leave
Promising not to grieve.
