Level Up (BNHA x OC) (Rewrite)

Chapter 6

Five teens stand around another's bedside as they stare at a small blue holographic screen hovering above her still unconscious form. Mina sits to her left, pink-tinted skin almost white with how tight her grip is on Hana's hand, Kirishima standing beside her with his arm wrapped reassuringly across his childhood friend's shoulders. Kaminari and Sero both sit in uncomfortable plastic chairs on her right side, the blond letting off anxious zaps of lightning from his fingertips into his slightly shaking palms.

Bakugo stands leaning against the wall opposite the white haired girl's hospital bed, attempting to appear nonchalant but the fact that he had been standing there for the last three hours betrayed his worry.

The timer stands out clearly in the stark white room.

The Bakusquad (as deemed by Ashido, much to the vehemence of Bakugo) watch with bated breaths as the final second ticks by and their quiet friend finally opens her amethyst eyes after five entire days. Each had been thankful for the week off school their class had been given due to the attack, allowing them to be on time to be here in time despite it being a Monday afternoon still within school hours.

Ashido is the first to launch herself at the disorientated girl, Hana's body stiffening at the contact. She is unsure what to do at that moment, having not received positive contact from another person for a good few years now. Eventually she robotically raises her arms to wrap loosely around the pinkette as the other's join the hug one by one. Even Bakugo rests a hand firmly on her shoulder, as if confirming for himself that she is indeed awake.

Similar to after the battle trials, Mina bursts into a series of questions about what Hana did, why she was suddenly so strong, why her hair turned black, etc, Kaminari, Sero and Kirishima pitching in their own questions here and there. Hana attempts to answer her friends but all that comes out is a raspy wheeze. A cool cup filled with water is pushed into her hands and she sends a thankful gaze towards the frowning blonde who had fetched it for her.

After taking a few careful sips to soothe her parched throat she finally answers, "I used a skill called 'Anarchy', it's the most powerful one I have since it temporarily maxes out all of my stats for a short period of time. That's why I grew so strong out of seemimgly nowhere. I assume I've been out for 5 days?" a group of nods confirm her words, "That is the consequece of using that particular skill. My hair turning black is just an indicator that the skill is active I think, I haven't used it before so I can't be sure."

It's a bit weird, that she's spoken more to the people in her class in the last week compared to the last ten years combined. There's just something about them that feels trustworthy, that they are genuine in their concern and care towards her, which is much more than she can say for the other people in her life.

'I hope I can continue to stand among you as we walk the road to being heroes together.'

"Just warn us next time Game-glitch, leave some of the fighting for the rest of us." Bakugo states, warm hand coming up to teasingly ruffle her snow white hair, effectively breaking any lingering tension in the room as the others tease him for having gone soft (Ashido and Kaminari both wearing their resulting slightly singed eyebrows with pride).

The door to the room opens and a man in a white doctor's coat steps inside, smiling gently when he sees Hana awake, "Hello Ms. Mizaki, my name is Dr. Enko. It's good to see you awake. Are you experiencing any aches or stiffness?" At Hana's head shake in denial he continues, "Well then, your tests all show no lingering injuries, very nifty quirk you have there, so I'll call up your guardian so that you can be discharged." The doctor gives one last gentle smile to the occupants in the room.
