"Finally... a moment of peace and chance to focus on the lesson." I thought, settling into my seat.
"It's time for partner sparring," Glynda said, "Weiss Schnee and Kaiser Ingenium, please come up to the stage," she announced.
Seriously? Why did I have to go up first...
Yang patted me on the back and said, "Give it your all!"
"YEAH!" Ruby yelled.
"Yeah..." Blake unenthusiastically said as she continued reading her book.
Upon reaching the stage, I started stretching. This was my third fight, and this time, it was against a human.
"I'm getting revenge for last time, Kaiser," Weiss declared.
"How about you focus that anger on Coco."
"Remember, whoever's aura drops to 25% will lose," Glynda explained.
The speakers yelled, "Ready...Set...Go!"
From the reflection in her eyes, I saw myself encased in a layer of ice, even though it hadn't happened yet.
I quickly leaped aside, narrowly avoiding the ice glyphs about to freeze me, thanks to my precognitive vision.
Was this the same as what happened with the Beowulf? It seemed my semblance of future sight either worked through a different perspective or my own.
But before I could reposition, Weiss immediately closed the distance between us, seizing every opportunity to pierce me with her rapier.
By perceiving her future movements highlighted in red, I preemptively aimed at the spot where she would be next. As she walked right into my scope, I pulled the trigger, sending shotgun pellets into her face.
She conjured a glyph shield to block the incoming bullets, continuing her assault on me.
I pulled out my dagger, barely able to parry every attack heading my way while dual-wielding with my shotgun to shoot her.
Despite my best efforts and my semblance guiding me, I couldn't seem to land a single hit on Weiss.
"You're making moves to dodge my attacks before I even make them. Is your semblance what I think it is?" she asked.
She can't be that sharp, is she? Don't tell me she figured out what it was already.
Weiss aimed behind me. I thought she had prepared a dust-enchanted glyph to shoot me from my blind spot, only to realize it was a fake out. Instead of shooting, she lunged at me.
I panicked as I tried to dodge her lunge, but she was too fast, and her rapier pierced my aura, significantly reducing it.
I staggered back, feeling the sting of my aura depleting. Weiss didn't let up, her relentless assault pushing me further on the defensive. I needed to change tactics, and fast.
Drawing upon my semblance, I focused on the next few seconds. I saw Weiss preparing another glyph, this time to summon a barrage of ice shards. I couldn't let her complete it.
I dashed to the side with a burst of speed, narrowly avoiding her rapier. I fired my shotgun at the glyph, shattering it before it could fully form.
Weiss's eyes widened in surprise, but she quickly recovered, summoning another glyph beneath her feet to propel herself into the air.
I aimed upwards, tracking her movements. She swerved mid-air, sending a flurry of ice shards down at me. I rolled to the side, feeling the cold sting of a few shards grazing my arm. I needed to get closer.
