Whispers of the Heart

The beginning of something unexpected....

Ava was an average girl, neither like the popular nor the shy kids. You could, in fact, call her a, 'normie'. She was a pure child, who always gave her all to make her parents proud. She had a bunch of friends, though she only ever whole heartedly trusted a select few. Her closest buddies were, Olivia her companion since a very young age and Mike who randomly appeared in her life out of the blue and gained her trust surprisingly quick.

At the start of high school, Ava met a new guy, Noah. He wasn't a very
charming guy, he was like those playboys you see in movies who just use the girls they date for their body. Noah was like those popular kids and almost everyone in their school had heard of his name at least once, whereas Ava wasn't so popular, especially among the boys.

When Noah and Ava became friends it was confusing, why would a popular kid like him want to talk to a girl like Ava. Olivia knew something was up with him when he started getting close and tried to warn her about him.

Ava always thought of their relation as of friends rather than that of something more, Noah had completely different thoughts about this matter.

They had this thing of talking to each other at a specific time, on a specific day of the week, that was the only one night they would ever text each other otherwise it was just small casual talks at school with friends. On one such event Noah decided to ask Ava to play ' Truth or Dare ' unknowingly she said yes, only if she knew what was to come next. And it started " Dare!" Said Noah all excited to play, " Ummm, ok easy one eat a chilli and don't drink water or milk after that for 10 min" said Ava cheekily, Noah did as she said.

The game went on for a while, it was Noah's turn again, he chose truth this time, Ava thought about it for a while, " ok so from all the girls in our school, who would you like to date??", only if she knew that this one simple question would change her life completely. " I dont know how to say this" said Noah, smiling on the other end of the screen, " come on just tell me, i won't tell anyone, promise", Ava's heart had started to beat faster she had a feeling of what he might say, "You..." He said finally. Ava was surprised even tho she knew it was coming, " why me?" She asked in utter shock.

Her mind started racing, why would a guy like him want someone like me??, is he being honest about this or is he just playing?, why did I ask that question?, would our friendship remain the same after this?. She finally got her self out of her thoughts and went back to the chat, he left, he left her on see and didn't say anything after that. Was this the end of her friendship with Noah, had she just messed up because of that one question. She wanted an escape for what just happened, so she turned on some music on her phone she laid down on the bed in the hopes of clearing her mind.

The following day Ava told Olivia all about the night’s events, her eyes widened in disbelief, her hand flew to her mouth, muffling a gasp. Olivia knew this was going to happen soon, when she saw the way he looked at Ava when they spoke in school.

"So what will you say to him now that he has confessed?’ asked Olivia with a questioning look, Ava didn’t know how to reply to this. She had never thought of something like this happening to her, especially with Noah. She always thought of them as friends and could not get the thought of them together.

Now that she thought back to when they used to text all night, she could see all the hints that he tried to give her, but she was too innocent to understand them then. He always said things that sounded fine then but now she understood the real meaning behind them. He always thought of them as something more than 'just friends'.

Ava did not know what to do at this point, Noah never spoke to her any more, he never spoke to her at school and would always leave if she tried to start a conversation with him. All she wanted now was to talk to him again and to clear things up and fix what was broken that night.

What would she do, she just lost the friendship she never wanted to loose, the bond they had was all gone. He was a part of her nightly routine, she still kept hope of him texting her again and ran to her phone every night when she heard it ring, hoping it was a text from him. She really wanted to talk to him again like befor. Always thinking of that night in her mind and questioning herself all the time, what if she didn’t ask that question? What if….

Olivia tried to tell her that he wasn’t a good guy and not to go after him because he would use her like all the other girls he has dated in the past, but Ava just wanted him back, she didn't miss him really she just missed the bond they had. Their was nothing to miss in him.
Ava decide not to tell mike about everything that happened between her and Noah.

Ava always waited for the text that never seemed to come. Would she ever get her friendship back ? What would she do if he texted her again? Would she say yes if he asked her out?
