With only one bottle of rosé in this house, I retreated to drinking whatever Jeremy had. A whiskey-something. It tasted horrible, but just about anything was better in his presence. Before we cozied up by the enormous fireplace, we all jumped on the water trampoline. Watching the childlike joy in Jeremy's face was adorable, especially when we all played Popcorn, and Jeremy got May to "pop."
We played around like kids for hours as the sun fell behind the trees. I went into this weekend caring to only focus on Jeremy, and spending time with him, but I found myself wanting to be around old friends, reminisce, and enjoy our last summer like this one.
Jeremy and I finally did head inside to put on warm clothes and rehydrate, which brought us here, wrapped up in blankets and in each other. The fire crackled perfectly beside us, and not a soul was in this house beside ourselves.
With the alcohol in my system, I took advantage of the courage I currently possessed. I pulled on his fingers, bringing him closer to me.
"Jeremy?" He peered up at me, the fire reflecting in his perfectly blue eyes. "You're sexy when you're happy."
He blushed ever so slightly. "When I'm happy?"
I nod, certain I knew him well enough to know his different expressions. "Yeah. You're always so broody and serious," I said in a joking voice. "You seemed that way when you showed up tonight. I just... I like seeing you happy."
He seemed to soak in my words for a short moment, then grinned. "Broody, huh?"
"That's all you got out of that?" I giggled. "I was trying to tell you that you're sexy, and you turn me on." I shot him a devilish grin. I knew turning things physical was the last thing I should be doing with him, but I was tired of waiting. He was all I could think about.
I leaned in and kissed him without hesitation. I didn't even wait for his body to react, I just pulled myself on top of him and moved myself against him. He let out the slightest groan, which was the only green light I needed. I pulled at his shirt, wanting it gone. I pulled at his hair, his swim trunks, his everything. Starkly contrasting how I felt earlier, I now figured that I didn't need a label on us to feel good about crossing this line, I just wanted him so badly in this moment that nothing could stop it.
I tugged at his shirt once more, hoping for his permission. Our mouths were connected in a way I never had been with anyone else before. It was making me breathless.
"Summer?" he pulled away just slightly, still allowing me access to his neck. "Should we... don't you think we should...?"
I nipped at his ear, which was the only response I could have at the moment. When he was no longer grasping at me like he was moments ago, I paused. Why was he stopping? He must have wanted me as much as I wanted him-- I could feel his desire for me through his swim trunks, and all I could think about was how I could get closer to him.
Just as I was about to pull away, to look into those serious eyes of his, the door slammed. I slowly swiveled around, nearly losing my balance due to Jeremy being directly beneath me. A guilty-looking face stared back at me from the dim kitchen.
"You're killing me, Southerly." I groaned.
Emma's eyes grew wide."Sorryyyy! I just thought you should go outside..."
"Why?" Jeremy and I both asked.
Emma scrunched her nose, her eyes bouncing around before she finally let the truth slip out. "May is skinny dipping." She was grinning as she pointed towards the lake, in as much shock as I was. It was very unlike my best friend to do something I would do, especially at a party full of people.
