Chapter #59
Louri's POV
It was finally the day I was getting discharged. I'm still feeling a bit sore but it's to be expected. I'm just glad I'm finally getting out of this uncomfortable hospital bed. Nurse Louisa came to do my final vital check and said everything looked good and she would be sending in the Doctor shortly to finalize discharge. Ma, Shanna and Bri took the kids to our home here out in D.C so that we didn't have to worry about them. Carly and Chris also went over to the house. Dr. Greyson came in with his clipboard. "Well Lt, you are healing up very well for you to go home," he tells us. "Thank you Doctor for everything," Scarlett says, making him nod. "Now Louri, please take it easy at home, your body still needs to rest and continue healing. No strenuous activities and no lifting or pushing anything over 5 lbs," he says. "But," I began to say but saw Scarlett glare at me, "understood Doctor," I say. "Very well, I have your discharge paperwork here that you will need to sign, if you are experiencing any pain or headaches that don't go away with over the counter medication please don't hesitate to give us a call. I will also be updating your Doctor back home in LA with everything as well. Please take care of yourself and I would not like to see you back here," he says. "Thanks Doc," I say, shaking his hand. He walks out and Scarlett helps me get dressed. Nurse Maya comes in with a wheelchair. "Finally time to leave," she says. "Ugh, really the wheel chair?" I ask. "Hospital protocol," she says. I let out a sigh and get up from the bed and sit in the wheelchair and she began to push me out of the room with Scarlett walking next to us. Once outside I saw Greg standing in his fatigues outside his blacked out SUV. He salutes me and I Salute him back. "At ease," I say. "How are you feeling?" He asks. "Sore, but I'll manage," I say, making him look at Scarlett who nods her head slightly. "You didn't have to come," I say to him. "Of course I did, I wanted to make sure you're ok. I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner. I had to fill out so much paperwork from the incident," he tells me. "Thank you for coming," I say, making him smile. Nurse Maya locks the wheelchair in place and I get up and get into the back seat, I roll down the window and grab Nurse Maya's hand. "Thank you for agreeing to take care of me, again. Tell Nurse Louisa I say thank you as well," I say to her. "I will, please take care of yourself," she says, giving my hand a slight squeeze and a smile. She turns around and hugs Scarlett and walks back into the hospital. Greg walks to the other side of the car opening the door for Scarlett to get in next to me. "Thank you Greg," she says. "You're welcome," he replies and closes the door once she's situated. I immediately intertwine our hand and kiss the back of her hand. "Thank you for being there for me and I'm sorry you had to see me get injured," I say. "I will always be there for you and don't apologize, you couldn't control it. I'm just glad you're home safe," she says, giving me a soft kiss on the lips. Greg started the drive to the house. I leaned my head against Scarlett's shoulder and closed my eyes, being grateful that I am back stateside.

Scarlett's POV
Once we arrived to our house here in D.C., Greg parked the car in the driveway and turned his head seeing Louri was asleep on my shoulder. He smiled at me and got out of the car slowly. I turned my head and whispered, "Louri, baby wake up, we're at the house." She slowly stirs and opens her eyes. "I haven't been here in a long time," she says. It's a small house near the base in D.C. she only kept it in case of emergencies, guess this would be one of them. We slowly get out of the car and I walk with her hand in hand inside. As we walked in, Devon saw us first. "Mama!" He
Shouts and runs over to us, but slows down as he got closer and wraps his arms around her waist. "Hey little Marine," Louri says, giving him a hug back and kissing the top of his head. "I drew a picture for you," he tells her. "You did?" She asks, making him nod excitedly and run off to the living room to grab his picture and bring it back showing it to her. "That's a great picture Devon, thank you," she says smiling. "You're welcome Mama," he says. Bri and Shanna bring the girls over and Louri gives them each a kiss on the cheek making them giggle. Chris walks over slowly, a little teary eyed, "as soon as Bri told me what happened I got the next flight out," he tells her. "Thank you for coming," she says, and they hug gently. I help Louri over to the couch and make sure she's comfortable. "I'm not made of glass," she says, but I give her a look and she swallows, "sorry," she says. "It's ok," I say to her. "Do you want something to drink or eat?" I ask. "I'm already making lunch," Lisa says from the kitchen, making us laugh. "Mama," Maya says. "Yes pumpkin," she asks. "Can I sits next to you?" She asks Louri. "Of course you can," Louri says. Bri places Maya next to Louri on the couch and Maya immediately attaches herself to Louri. She definitely gets it from me. Louri brushes her hair gently with her hand and kisses the top of her head. "Ouch," I say, making Louri look at me immediately. "Your son," I say, grabbing her hand and placing it on my stomach, making her smile widely. "Strong little man," she says. "Yeah, thanks," I say jokingly, making her chuckle. I love that sound. Devon continues drawing and Louisa is playing with Uncle Chris, while we wait for lunch to be ready.
