"Shit. Shit. Shit." I whispered to myself as I sprinted through the district . The sun would be coming up in less than 15 minutes and if I wasn't in my room my ass was gonna get beat. I had been out drinking with my friends again, I got black out drunk and passed out in one of their rooms.

I reached the edge of our field and jumped the fence before I continued my sprint to my bedroom window. I push the locks up and flung myself into the room. I pull off my boots and set them next to my bed, then flung off the clothes I had worn out into the corner before hoping into bed.

"Ayven!" My mama called, I heard her steps as she neared my room. One. Two. Three "Ayven!" She called again banging on my door.

"I'm up mama!" I called back in a faux tired voice. I climbed out of bed just as she pushed open the door "Geez! I said I was up," I repeat to her. I walk over to my dresser and pull out some clothes to work in. I pulled them on as she walks into the room.

"You weren't out again last night, were you?" She asked me, I rolled my eyes and turned to her.

"No I was not" I most definitely was "I was there all cozy in my bed," I said , I looked out the door to see my 3 older brothers walking by "Does ma  interrogate y'all like this?" I ask them

"Nope just you," Buck said to me, as he walked into the kitchen

"Now mama, I'm pretty sure that is profiling or something," I said looking over at her, she walks over and ruffles my hair

"I dunno when your daughter got caught sneaking out to drink 4 times in a week you might need to check up on her," she said, she placed her hands on my shoulders and kissed my cheek

"I stopped doin that like 3 weeks ago," I smile as I walk out of the room. She follows me and we head to the kitchen to have some breakfast. "Do you think I could juggle eggs?" I ask picking some up into my hands

"You better not or you won't be eating for a week," my dad says as he ties his shoes.

"Ok then," I place them down "If I get reaped I'll eat real good," I respond taking a sip of water.

"Sure and then you'd die cause of your smart mouth," Shay said, as tightening the belt around his waist. I smiled at him

"I'd last longer than you," I replied, tying my boots back onto my feet. I stomped them on the ground to make sure they were sturdy before going back to my breakfast.

"Stop yapping and go do your chores the days short cause of the reaping," my dad says. He was a big man; 6,4' dark brown hair and dark eyes. Usually pretty nice but way stricter than mama. If he found out I was drinking I'd be sleeping in a cage.

Mama on the other hand was about 5,3', red hair which all 4 of us kids inherited, and soft hazel eyes. She was sweet but had a loud voice which was often directed at me.

"Yes sir," my brothers and I say in unison as we walk out the door, I stroll over to the birds to gather the eggs they hatched.

"I know you snuck out," Asa whispers to me as I pass by where he milking the sheep

"And I know you've been sneaking around with Lyra," I reply, his face red and he glares at me. "He really thought," I laugh to myself. I finished doing most of my chores, gathering the eggs, moving hay, and now bringing the sheep.

My personal favorite. I was fast and so were they:  I had to rile them up and not get my ass run over. I tightened my boots and walked over to the gate. I took a deep breath and grabbed the whip.

I stood by the gate, I unlocked it and pet a few of the sheep. They all stayed in the pen, none wanting to leave. I grabbed the whip smacked down on one in the back. I took off sprinting as I heard the sound of their feet behind me. It was about 300 meters until the tree branch that I used to get away from them.
