A/N: This is posted on AO3 as well. My 2nd account is called Aruna1 and it's posted there.
He couldn't feel anything. He felt like he was floating. He could hear whispers coming from everywhere. He wanted to clamp his hands on his ears, but he couldn't feel them. The whispers got louder and louder. Eventually, they got so loud that he felt like his mind would explode.
Suddenly, he woke up from the nightmare, clamping his hands on his ears. He slowly opened his eyes, blinking a few times to get used to the light. He was in a fancy room, lying on an enormous bed. The room had a red and white theme, with big windows and a balcony.
"Young master, you're finally awake! I'm going to inform the Count, so please stay here. I will call the chef to make you breakfast." The unknown person said, standing up from the chair next to the bed and bowing, leaving the room in a rush.
He looked out of the window. He could see a big garden with lots of flowers beneath the balcony. He had a weird feeling. The trees looked too big, the flowers were too colorful, and the sky was bluer than usual. Everything looked like it was from a fairytale.
His body hurt, so he looked down to find the problem. He raised his hand so he could inspect it. He felt as if he grew smaller. He slowly stood up and went to the mirror in the room. He gasped from shock.
He was a child with jet-black hair and violet eyes. He had a lot of questions, but he couldn't find any answers. Why did he look like that? Why was he a child? The last time he checked, he was a normal Korean citizen with black hair and dark brown eyes.
Immediately after realizing he was in an unknown location with a different body, the door opened. The person from earlier, who he assumed was a butler, came into the room followed by a man that looked similar to the body he was in.
"Young master, you shouldn't have gone out of bed! The doctor is coming soon, so please lay back down on the bed." The butler told him, gently pushing him back into bed.
"Where am I?" He asked the butler, hoping that he didn't seem weird. The question stunned the butler, his eyes widening from shock.
"You're in the count's manor, Young master. You must be confused. You and Count Amias were heading to the Royal palace because of the Count's work when you suddenly passed out in the middle of the trip. The Count turned the carriage around and immediately called for a doctor once you returned." The butler answered him, looking worried.
"Uhm, I don't remember anything." He said, looking away from the butler so he didn't feel awkward.
"Young master, do you remember at least something, like your name?" The butler asked him, looking at him with worry. The person who came with him took his hand, rubbing circles on his palm.
"I... don't remember my name either, sorry." He looked at the person holding his hand. He guessed he was the father of the person he took the body of. He didn't know how it was possible, but he knew that this wasn't Korea. There weren't a lot of things that could have brought him here, but this was not his body.
The person who looked like him stopped rubbing circles on his palm. He looked at his face, presumably to find any indication that he was lying.
"Your name is Kailin Amias, son of Count Kaysen Amias and Rosa Amias, the dead Countess. You're seven years old and you were born on the 21st of May. I'm Count Kaysen Amias, your father." His "father" answered him.
He was hoping that he would recognize the names, but he didn't. He wasn't sure why he thought he would recognize the names, but he thought that maybe he was dreaming and that this would be some dream about a story he read. He was wrong, but he couldn't accept that this was reality. It just didn't make sense.
After about a minute, the door opened again. The person who came in was wearing a white coat and glasses. He looked like a typical doctor, except for the tools a normal doctor would have.
"I greet the Count and Young master. I'm the doctor that you called." He bowed, immediately sensing that there was something wrong. He approached him and looked at him, trying to find something wrong.
"Doctor, my son has lost his memories. Is there anything that says this could happen?" Count Amias asked the doctor while he held his hand.
"I will have to research this, but I do not think this is normal. You said that he passed out in the carriage. Did he eat anything beforehand that could've been poisoned?" The doctor asked, checking his body for injuries.
"He ate a sandwich. Investigate the staff who were on duty that day!" The count demanded. The butler bowed and left the room.
The rest of the day passed like a blur. He stayed in bed most of the time as the doctor said that the best course of action would be not to do anything that would give him a lot of stress. The only thing he did was sleep and stare at the ceiling, occasionally going to the toilet. He was bored, so he asked to go to the library.
The maid went to ask the Count. Luckily, he agreed. If he didn't, he probably would've died out of boredom. She took him to the library. After what felt like an eternity, they arrived. She bowed and left, leaving him on his own.
He looked around the library. The library was really big and had a lot of books. He chose some books that were about the history of the empire as they could give him some useful information. He sat down on one of the chairs and started reading.
He didn't know for how long he was reading, but it was at least a few hours. He looked out of the window to see that the sun had almost set. He went outside of the library to ask for some food.
Once he got some sandwiches, he went to his room to write all the useful information down so he wouldn't forget it.
