Convulsions.

Thankfully my fast reflexs quick in and my mind goes into work mode as I get Adina on her side on the floor. Her body shakes for a couple of minutes before she groans and her eyes open once again.

"Take it easy. I am going to get you moved to bed." I gently talk to her as she looks around but gasps as a contraction racks through her once more.

She mumbles after the contraction passes but her eyes are closed. "I was so dizzy and seen spots."

"You had a seizure. Just as I checked your blood pressure levels you went through a contraction then seized on me." I stand up from the floor holding her and making sure not to let her fall.

My feet start us toward the bedroom but stop.

It is colder there as the fireplace is further away from the bedroom. She needs the warmth even if she is sweating. The baby once born will need the heat too.

I place Adina in the lounge chair and then run to the bedroom. Grabbing many blankets and towels while in the spare closet space. In the living room, I place them on the couch before picking the end up and spinning it up against the main windows. Now the floor is a wide open space and the fireplace is right to the side of us. Next, I lay the blankets down but keep the towels in reaching distance for when the baby is born.

"Come down here, little deer." I crawl over and help her down to the floor.

Just as she gets down and another contraction hits, my phone rings.

"Hello?" Answering my phone while Adina's hand squeezes mine makes my voice a bit squeakier than normal.

"We will be there in a few minutes. Got a way for us to get in?" Captain grunts as his voice is static filled.

"The attic has a window around the back of the house." I state and then proceed to tell him what just accord a bit prior.

"Try to keep her calm." He states.

"Drew! They aren't letting up." Adina gets out fast while almost panting.

I rub a hand over her arm. "Breathe through it and help will be here in a few minutes."

A knock or more like pounding is heard. I kiss Adina's head and run to the door where I pull it down from the roof to get up to the attic. Climbing the stairs the air is much colder here in the house and I walk carefully over to the window and hope the floor doesn't give since it is something I have never done.

"Is Captain here yet?" Lumie ask once jumping into the house. It isn't high enough yet so he had partially climbed the gutter to get up here the rest of the way.

"No but he just called saying it shouldn't be long. She had a seizure, high blood pressure and stated the contractions aren't ending."

Lumie's eyes go wide and he takes off the tennis racket from his shoes with duct tape.

Lumie takes the last off and makes it to the stairs first. Another knock sounds and I look over to see Captain and a woman with him. I open the door and help them in and take a bag from the ladies hand so she could climb through the window.

"This is my wife and she is a baby doctor." Captain smiles.

I breathe out a deep breath. "I am grateful you are here."

She nods and bids me a greeting before I explain the same to them on Adina as we make it down the stairs and Captain stops to put the ladder back up then raises the piece back up to hide it into the roof of the kitchen.

I wash my hands and make it to the living room to see Lumie taking blood pressure on Adina and Sandy checking over Adina's cervix.

"It isn't time to push yet. She is only dilated to seven." Sandy whispers to me as I sit back by Adina. "I am giving her some medications that are safe for blood pressure. It will work fast and should help calm the labor back to normal."

I nod once then kiss Adina's head, she looks up at me and smiles lightly. Everyone can tell how tired she looks as it has been a bit since the contractions started and with the seizure that took out more energy.

In between contractions Adina tries to rest and during one, I hold her hand while Sandy massages her back since she has moved to stand on her knees with her head laying on the couch. Sandy said it could help with gravity with pulling the baby down and opening up her cervix.

Time keeps passing us by and the fight continues as Adina feels the urge to push. Finally she is given the go by Sandy even though she isn't fully dilated. I hold Adina close while she has one hand and I hold her leg. Lumie on the other side, same stance but he watches her face instead. Sandy is the baby catcher as should her since she does this for a living and Captain is wiping Adina's head with a cloth along with handing towels to Sandy when she asked for one.

"Go. Go. Try to control this one and hold it." Sandy coaches and a pain cry comes from Adina.

Then a cry fills the air as I watch Henail be born. Sandy places him right on Adina's chest and places a towel on him.

"Let me build the fire up more." Captain stutters and wipes his eyes when I glance at him.

Lumie laughs but he wipes his eyes with Captain. "Good time as any to be mushy."

I laugh and kiss Adina's head while she kisses Henail.

"The most interesting birth to happen in a hot while for me. Honestly, I would have done a c-section on someone like you if I could have at the clinic." Sandy huffs out a laugh.

"Thank you all for showing up." Adina breathes and smiles.

"Wouldn't have actually used these tennis rackets, but they were handy for walking through that snow and ice." Lumie laughs.

"That is why you should invest in a sled or a snow board." Captain laughs and I see when he points to the windows and I see both standing up that they must have used.

"Everything is tended to for you and now to rest. I do want to keep a watch on your blood pressure for the next several hours." Sandy nods and puts a blanket over Adina's legs as we get her moved to sit up against the couch.

"Her pregnancy had been normal so this was honestly a shock." I nod.

"The doctor literally said yesterday he wasn't coming anytime soon." Adina laughs lightly while Sandy checks over him.

"Happens. Babies have their own time schedule." Sandy smiles. "He is healthy though, weighing in at six pounds even."

"Isn't he small?" Lumie steps back over with baby clothes once Adina points where they are for him to grab.

"He is normal size." Sandy smiles and moves so I can place the clothes on Henail.

Finally clothed, I pick him up in my arms for the first time and my heart bursts with love. We are a family of three.
