I collapsed to the ground, engulfed by a wave of despair, and I curled up, tears streaming down my face. "Ya Allah, if this is a test from you, please grant me the strength to overcome it," I whispered through sobs. Despite the persistent knocks on my door and the incessant buzzing of my phone, I allowed myself to release the pent-up emotions, crying for what felt like an eternity.
Eventually, I found the resolve to stand and perform tahajjud, the night prayer. As I poured my heart out to Allah, expressing the depth of my anguish, I sought solace in reciting the holy Quran, my voice trembling with emotion, until the call to fajr prayer echoed through the stillness of the night. With a heavy heart, I completed my prayers and sought comfort in my adkhar, clinging to the hope of a new day.
I glanced at the clock and noted that it was ten minutes to seven. I remained in quiet contemplation until the first light of dawn graced the sky, and then I performed two nafil prayers. By the time I finished, it was already half past seven, and a throbbing headache weighed heavily on my mind. Seeking solace, I ventured outside to brew a cup of tea and find respite in the tranquility of the garden.
As I opened the door and stepped into the kitchen, I was met by the sight of Salma, our maid, diligently preparing breakfast.
"Good morning Reena" she greeted
"Morning Salma how was your night " I asked
"It was fine Alhamdulillah, what should I get for you" she asked walking up to me
"It's fine get back to work it's just tea, I'll make it myself " I sad taking out a mug and pouring hot water into it.
I heard a husky voice say, 'Make one for me too,' and I turned to look in the direction from which the voice had come.
"Ayan what are you doing here " I asked
"I slept over because of someone " he said leaning against the door frame
"What did I do" I asked taking another cup.
"Our parents were worried about how you reacted last night so I stayed to talk to you" he said walking up to me and collecting his cup of tea.
"Am going to the garden " I said walking out of the kitchen and he followed suite.
I sat on the swing in the garden, folding my legs beneath me, while Ayan sat with his legs stretched out. In the serene morning, we sipped our tea in comfortable silence, embracing the tranquility of the moment.
"I think we should have our wedding in a week" he suggested
"I think so too" I agreed
"You know why I said that right" he asked turning to look at me
"Yes because of lulu" I replied
"Lulu?" He asked puzzled
I smiled and touched my belly and he laughed.
"So it has a name huh" he smugged
"Yeah I want to cherish it I think Allah is trying to tell me something or show me something using this incident" I said sipping my tea and rubbing my tummy.
"I hope for the good and I pray it leads to something better than what we plan" he prayed and I mouthed an 'Amin'
"Are you guys hungry or what" Fareed asked
"When did you get here" we asked
"Just now" he replied "the quad's are asking of you and breakfast is ready" he said
"Quad" I asked
"Yeah your parents and ours" he said and we all laughed. We walked into the house and went over to the dining area.
